    Re: NEW - iMito QX-1 - 4.2.2 - Finless ROM 1.5

I am doing new kernels almost all days, (trying to fix the teboot problem ) but there is not mayor improvements about the last ones published, but you are right, there are a long time since I published the last ones, so I will publish some new kernels soon, last sources I use are the omegamoon ones.

      Hi All,
I thought someone might find my experience with the Imito QX1 using finless 1.5 useful...
Firstly, I'm running 1080P standard clock and the device (once booted) is responsive. I found my 2.4Ghz keyboard seems to have problems with wifi so I installed droidmote and use my phone as a remote control, which works really well. Also xbmc won't start with the 2.4Ghz (iPazzPort) keyboard dongle plugged in.
xbmc gotham alpha 8 (the latest test build) is OK with 720P, but not smooth with 1080P video, and I would say that 720P is only OK - not as smooth as it could be, but OK. It's not using any hardware acceleration I don't think. I also had a few problems trying to get DTS from a movie to my amp.
It's a shame really as compared with my Raspberry Pi, navigation is much much faster.
I also tried mx player. This is smoother, but still not 100%. It is able to play 1080P but again not perfectly smooth, it doesn't seem quite right, and compared with my phone (galaxy s2), is definitely not as smooth. All testing was streaming over wifi which, when it decides to work, seems to hold a strong signal and fast connection to the router (which is I admit currently about 2ft away from it!)
Oh, should also mention that plex video performance is similar to xbmc with no transcoding. There was also some lipsync issues.

Other than these issues, and the known wifi issue, the stick seems to work pretty well. Looking forward to any further releases which might eventually bring better hardware support for video. Thanks to all those who are working on improvements,
      Matt

        leolas.
I made a new set of kernels from omegamoon sources, but I noticed that GPU performance is very low compared with the last ones published (1080p CPU1800RAM720GPU798; before in antutu more than 20000 now 18000; Epic citadel before 62,3 now 37,1) Video play is smooth in both, I am searching why, I will report soon

          Hi Leolas,

Is video playback more smoothly than your older kernels? Of the same? Just like Matt mentions, it's just not 100% smoothness on the old kernels, which, by the way, are far better than the originals!

Many thanks for you hard work!!!!

I didn't noticed any changes, I will give you a link so you can test them:

Dont know why this decrease in GPU performance. I didnt noticed it before because I rarely play games on the stick, but before release kernels I always made a test battery with benchmarks and programs to test stability.

The kernels do not work on firmware Finless 1,5.

                Sure?? Any of the kernels??
What is the problem with them? Black screen?? No signal on tv? Did you flash the .img file right?

Maybe I upload the wrong set?? I will install them this night.

                    leolas.

EDIT: I checked 3 of them and everyone works in my qx1, I have not installed Finless 1.5, I have my own custom, but they works very well, with the exception of bad gpu result in benchmarks.
Each kernel have 3 files: .config .txt and .img Be sure to flash the .img file the other ones are the characteristics and config file (to compile by yourself if you want).

                          Which firmware currently works best?

                          Hi guys!

I'm currently using the Finless 1.5 with Leolas 720p non OC kernel, but since I mostly run 1080p movies, I'll be flashing that today. I had it flashed to 1080p before, but video playback wasn't completely smooth and I thought it would run better on 720p. As I didn't notice any significant difference, I'll be flashing it back to 1080p.

I'm running Archos video player, which runs smoother than XBMC, as it supports HWA, and like it better than MX player, because of nice user interface, complete with fanart, movie discription and subtitle download from Opensubtitles.org. It even let's you adjust the subtitle synch.

Anyway, I just like to thank Leolas and Finless for all the good work so far. So a big THANK YOU!

Does anyone know, however, how Bob is doing? I don't mean with the roms, but is he OK, as his last post is over a month ago, I believe?

He is ok, and making some new roms so dont worry.

We the QX1 users will have a good notice soon (I hope). I get a kernel that don't have problems to load and unload the 8189es.ko wifi module, inclusive in reboot, but it has a big trouble. If you reboot the stick with wifi on, the stick enters in a bootloop, so wifi must be disconnected before reboot and connected after reboot. I am automating the processes so soon (sorry no estimated time) we will have roms without the wifi on reboot problem. It is not a fix is a workaround that reset the sdio card before activate wifi, so some work is needed in the firmware to make it work. But al least we will not have the reboot problem with wifi!!!

Of course once I got a full working rom with this workaround I will share the kernel modification and the rom modifications needed, so anyone who want to make a custom rom for QX1 can use it.

I was obsessed with this problem and yesterday I found a workaround for causality
