I had to register to reply, so keep that in mind!

    2) Win7:
    Control Panel; System & Security; System; Advanced System Settings (on left); Hardware tab at top; Device Installation Settings;

    3) Reset button is on the rear facing camera and Reset is silkscreened on (below Host).

ROM_Flash_Tool_137.exe is RKAndroidTool.exe. Select Properties and that is the Description.

I'd start with a push pin in Reset hole with the Esc and Power key as described in First Timer document and see if
Found RKAndroid Mass Storage Device appears in Rom tool as a test of Windows drivers.

And, for what its worth, I too flashed my M9 Pro for the first time last night but downloaded the 1.7 Bloated Wifi (NOT 1.7A) and panic set in when it didn't boot. The 1.7A is in BIG RED letters for the version listed on the first page that work, but I picked one that is known not to work. I'm now on 1.7B.

Good luck on 1) - it may not be as bad as it seems!

Erhm, what can we do with it? I believe you it can be useful, but how exactly?

Thanks so much for replying and all the advice. Surely you don't regret registering to such a brilliant forum and website?

I couldn't see the reset hole because the bl--dy flash light was permanently on (I can see it now that the battery's flat). Now I'm waiting for the battery to recharge before I attempt my recovery.

ROM_Flash_Tool_137.exe is definitely nowhere in the unzipped download.
Maybe the easiest is to download another RileyROM package and get the tool from there.

        Thanks again, HEAPS!!

NO regrets at all. Until I bought the M9 Pro in August, I'd had NO experience with any tablet (or smartphone). There is much more for me to learn, but this website has helped a lot already.

I didn't want my first post to suggest you needed to Search more (I see it too often in Forums), so I didn't mention clicking Start; and typing Hardware into the Search box in Win7. Change Device Instalation Settings is about the 4th / 5th item listed and takes you directly to the dialog you wanted. I suspect you might even have used Search like that before.

          Good Luck!

            Thanks for the advice again.

            I am still having problems.
            I downloaded RileyROM v1.7a again.
This time I got the RKAndroidTool.exe as well as the Drivers (didn't get them the first time either).

I went through the procedure of correcting a wrong flash.
Did everything to the book. Everything appeared to happen, but still ended up with a blank screen and the flashlight on.
Tried again, this time adding the loader (had to change it's name as the flash tool was expecting an older version - v1.20. The current version is 1.24).
            Same result.

Maybe I have to reset the NAND chip.

Randy keeps saying that these RK1388 tablets are nearly impossible to brick.
            I hope he's right.

Every once in a while you get a tablet that just doesn't want to play well with others.

I believe you have a unique situation because the ROM flashes to other user's devices ok.

Step back and look at all of the elements in the equation. Check USB port, cable, Windows drivers. Make sure you have a complete ROM kit this time. You might even try flashing from a different PC.

Once you have eliminated every variable you have control over, then turn to the tablet itself.

I haven't heard of the flash light ever going on immediately after a flash. That leads me to believe there is a hardware malfunction.

Try downloading the official firmware from Pipo and use the RKBatchtool to flash it. It should give you a baseline to work from.

Are you completely sure you are flashing the correct ROM? Is it the M9 Max or the M9 Pro? If it uses the other ROM try it. It does make a huge difference.

There is no reason to check the loader unless you are un bricking after a NAND pin reset. Flashing the loader for no apparent reason can cause problems....and may also brick your tablet.

If you read the forums from other user's experiences, it is usually one simple thing that they change and it all works like magic. Don't give up just yet.

Thanks for the rom, unfortunately my Win 7 64bit is rejecting the driver. I've tried Moborobo, etc but still can't manage to get the flash tool to work (all the flash tools!). However lucky me, at least I manage to root with Zhuodashi tool.

For now I'm looking whether I can flash the images separately with adb. I've pushed the recovery image with adb and flash it with terminal. Can I do the same for the system and boot image? Please guide me, the stock ROM is no good at all (wifi keep dropping).

Sadly my other laptop is also with Win 7 64 bit and having same issue.

                    Please help.

                    THanks!

Did you follow all of the steps in the First Time User's Guide?

I'm afraid that once Windows loads the wrong drivers, it is almost impossible to delete them and install the correct ones. I'm not really sure of a reliable way of doing that.

Freaktab member, Pr0xZen did a lot of testing with this, and actually wrote most of that First Time User's Guide. Maybe he can help with a possible solution.

                          M9 VS M9Pro (Firmware)

                          Hi
Lots of folk reported on various sites Skype malfunctions.

I've attempted to run Skype on different firmware on my newly acquired Pipo M9Pro, stock and custom alike and used different versions of Skype (2.8; 3.0, 4.0) and coming from oldest to newest Skype behaved annoyingly capriciously. It almost feels like MicroSoft doesn't want us to run Skype on Android but I have it on 7" Ainol and it works quite well.
I managed to make and hold calls with 2.8 and 3.0 but only after reboot. Reboot=>call=>call=fail=>reboot=>call

It's obviously the fault of M9Pro model

Questions's here: Is is all possible to load M9 rom into Pro model? Will it run? Because I've bought for my daughter M9 model (regular) and she runs Skype just fine

My laptop is Win 7 64 bits and I dont have any issues to flash. Try this

1.- Restore your windows machine to a previous state before you installed drivers for rk3188.

d ) Follow directions and select the day and time before instaled drivers

windows will restore and reboot automaticaly

2,- Change windows system options to block automatic search for drivers
a ) Right click on my computer icon and select - Properties
b ) On the upper left side option list selet - Advanced system setings
c ) in Hardware tab select - Device Installations Settings
d ) Select option - No, let me choose what to do
e ) On the upper left side option list selet - Device manager and keep it open

3.- With tablet on connect it to the computer and wait until ask for drivers
4.- On device manager you kept open update drivers and select drivers folder included in Riley's ROM
                            5.- Diconnect tablet from computer
6.- Install Moborobo and wait until finish
                            7.- Reboot windows machine
8.- Connect tablet to windows machine, open moborobo and wait until download and install all drivers needed and you can "see" your table contents in moborobo

Now you can Flash you tablet with Riley's tools. Follow directions included in ROM package.

                                Hi!

Thank you very much for all the roms that you've done, rriley.

I've flashed the stock rom called M9_PRO_OTA_software_20130913 and I've installed the OTA 1.0.1. Afterwards, I've rooted it. I don't know if you need some file or how I can extract all the rom for you customize it if you're interested.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

                                Sorry for my english
