In the readme it says the count should 16384 I get 8192. I have checked the drivers and my connection everything is fine. After installed seems to work good maybe a few freezes. I wondering if its not fully in installed? I also didn't get cwm menu to wipe cache partition. Any advice would be appreciated? thanks

Same for me...no freezes though. Is it because we had already flashed 1.2 or something?

8192 is correct. Sorry...its the M8 Pro that goes to 16384.

1.7B is debloated. I can use the PiPo Launcher (Win8 theme) in 1.7B, but that is because I rooted the M9 Pro to run Titanium Backup on the original tablet. I'm far too inexperienced on any tablet to install new firmware until I had backed up first.

Although the PiPo Launcher is fully functional, there are several IncStage apps that I never launched on the original firmware and now request a license number. IncStage Explorer was used and starts fine now. IncStage Reader also runs, but "preinstalled documents" (Chinese letters so I can't tell you the names) aren't there. IncStage Photo runs, but complains that it doesn't have license. SO, you can get Win8 theme with PiPo Launcher on 1.7B, but it is just the Launcher's UI.

Edit: I used Titanium to restore PiPo Launcher (AND Family) - it isn't ready to go just by flashing 1.7B. I needed to root to make the backup. It might be easiest to wait for the next time Riley makes a Stock_Launcher, but it wasn't hard to root.
I got the needed Android_Winusb.INF from this post - http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ll=1#post80014
But you need the ADB driver installed to be able to run ADB.exe.

The default is 2gb. It is the parameter file not marked with a number...just "parameter".

The first time you flash one of my ROM's...YOU MUST do it with the flash tool in Windows. I'm sorry if I've caused confusion by including this feature in my kit.

The parameter files, which define the mount locations of each of the system elements must be present.

When flashing a CWM zip, you have to use the parameters which are already installed on the device. Since I change many of the file sizes in my cooking process, I must change the parameter files extensively. Also, you don't have the ability to change the user app space.

You also can't erase IDB to get parts of the old firmware off the device...CWM just installs the ROM on top of the old one.

It is best to always flash for the first time with the flash tool, and each time you change the parameter files (user app space size). Likewise, if one of my new ROM's has a significant change in the system.img size, then you must flash via Windows to define the correct parameters. An example would be if I release a non-debloated version of the ROM. The system.img will be much larger than my usual ROM.

I've never flashed a ROM via CWM for that reason, but I include the option to do so at your own risk since I've had so many requests to do so. Once I had the drivers loaded correctly in Windows, flashing is always a breeze to do.

The good thing about CWM is that you don't have to use a PC to flash...and if you just want to reflash for some reason, you can do so easily. Also, many of my updates use the standard file sizes (I try to make the system.img always the same size) except when I have to add more apps or features to a ROM which take up more space.

So, a note to CWM flashers...always compare the new ROM to the old one with regard to file sizes before you attempt to flash via CWM...it may not work. And, NEVER attempt to flash for the very first time via CWM.

                  1.7a seems good

I installed 1.7a yesterday on my M9Pro wifi and then restored apps via titanium.

So far the rom is excellent - most notably, my tablet now has the best wifif reception of any device in the house. Also scored a fair bit higher on antutu (up 2k from rileyrom 1.3a)

My tablet scores in the 17's but some users are claiming antutu scores in the 19's.... ....what else have you guys done to boost your score further other than flashing a new rom?

                    3G 1.7b OTA

My Pro 3G with 1.7b CWM having OTA updated few times.Everytime after succesfully download the zip file bring me to reboot but CWM failed to install the file.Until now I turn off the Auto Update otherwise the update annoying me. Maybe Randy already got the solution or I have to happily live without any update.

I discovered that on my M7 yesterday.

                      I had to delete provision.apk from system/app

Where did you go to turn off OTA updates? I couldn't find that setting on my M7.

This is the first update they have pushed. It is designed for the stock recovery to install. But I never could get it to finish the installation. It was a never ending process, so I decided to kill that feature for the moment.

This is going to require some thought to figure out. I'm afraid that these OTA updates will replace the firmware updates posted on their site.

OK...I think I may have found a fix...but I need a little help testing it, if anyone is willing.

Since you are rooted...you can use an advanced File Manager app like Xplore or ES File Explorer and set it to root read/write permissions in preferences. You will need to confirm this when Superuser pops up.

Browse in the root to /system and look for a file named build.prop.

Choose edit or open in text editor and scroll down to the bottom of the file and you will find a line saying:

ro.product.ota.host=www.jinson.com.cn:2300 (or something like that...it may be a different address)

And just put an # in front of the line to comment it out.

                        Save

                        Reboot

And see if this prevents the tablet from nagging you about an update.

You can delete some apps like provision.apk or rkupdate.apk, but other things may quit working...so I'm trying to prevent having to do that.

Please, let me know what you find out.

I turned off OTA updates in Settings; About tablet (last one); and System updates (1st item).

I have tried to change build.prop to have the # but can't find "preferences" in ES File Explorer so I can save the change. I can try ADB shell commands to copy the file to someplace editable and CHMOD, but it seems overkill for something that can be turned off easily. I'd rather learn how to get ES File Explorer working so I could Write it. I'll work on that for now.

Edit: Found Root Explorer in ES File Explore and changed system to R/W. Then saved build.prop with the line commented out. I didn't wait for an auto update check, but when I pick Check Now in System Update, it no longer displays the "Find update" [sic].

I Have a couple of questions.

I installed the 1.7b ROM on my stock M9 Pro and it all want well, the only major thing I noticed that differed from the guide was that the tablet never booted into CWM after the installation. So I never cleared the cache partition as the guide said. Is that bad? and how do I fix that if necesary?

Is it possible to enable multi user support on the Pipo? as I have read tablets with 4.2+ should have multiple user support but I do not have that option in the settings menu.

My Wifi reception is really bad, is there some software/hardware fixes that could be used to improve wifi signal?

Is it possible to overclock the Pipo M9 Pro?

                              Comment

The reason you didn't get the CWM screen is because the ROM kit defaults to stock recovery. You must flash the CWMrecovery.img instead of recovery.img to install it. By flashing stock recovery, you didn't need to do those extra steps. You can simply uncheck all of the items in the flash tool except recovery, and browse the flash tool to the cwmrecovery.img. You can flash it by itself without erasing IDB.

I have started implementing multi-user support, but it seems that Pipo hasn't perfected the feature. Users are reporting touch screen issues and other problems when running as a different user.

I've heard that my latest ROM improves upon the wifi reception, but I've also heard from some users who have discovered poor connections with the antenna within their devices. So, it's really a combination of problems/solutions.

With performance as good as it is currently, I don't see the risk/benefit to overclocking. First of all, you need kernel sources to adjust those settings in the kernel (which Pipo has not released). Second of all, there's no way to improve cpu cooling within a tablet, so you risk melting down your device if you're not careful.
