      Not booting

      Hi

Just got a k-r42 yesterday, managed to flash the HFW ok, but as i was having issues with XBMC closing randomly decided to try JustXBMC

It flashes ok, on first power on you see it formatting Data/cache/sd, but then the unit reboots, briefly shows the justXBMC logo and powers itself off.

Powering on again, just does the same thing

      Any Ideas?

It appears on occassion it takes numerous retries then all of a sudden the issues go? Maybe it's something to do with data transferance during initial setup, maybe some data isn't copied what i did was i tried it without the usb cable in and it seems to be better loading.

I'm simply just going to reflash after having the router powered down for many hours and see where we get with ethernet left in,fingers croissed i hope it works.

There is one small question i have if this does not work, that is if i am flashing the unit do all cables have to be removed or can i leave the wifi reciever attached during the process? As that is what i am doing at present.

Still no joy reflashing then plugging in reciever either, the same error message appears when the box attempts a boot of the ouya launcher at start up? The weird bit is if you take out the ethernet and scroll the menu you do not get this error but as soon as you attach ethernet or go wifi it throws the error up again,i also tried reinstalling the custom launcher for v1.0.10 and still it does not work, but before all this it was operating just fine?

The absolute last resort i can come up with is re-downloading the link i had originaly from page 5 and trying that again,i'll let you know what happens next but after this if it doesn't work i have absolutely no clue what i can do?

With the 1.1.0 firmware I can navigate around XBMC but as soon as I try playing something I get a lot of colored stripes on the screen and then the device shuts down.

Yeah I have found that it doesnt always like booting with the OTG cable connected. But this starts to boot and then powers off the unit. Having played with it a bit today I have found HFW 2.04 also unstable for me, the display corrupts when using xbmc or even when scrolling in the browser and reboots, where the stock firmware works perfectly fine :-/

I find that after this message appears the panic i mean, then the only accessible thing then is the just launch launcher but even reinstalling another launcher brings the same up?

Ok guys i also have a GT-I9377 china s3 clone with samsung galaxy s3 os on it, so i tried the custom ouya launcher latest version on that, and bang same error as the k-r42 so this has to be server related now looking at it it's certainly a connecxtion based error and the fact the scripts first lines include HTTP: i assume it's browser or server related some way? Also on the phone if iturn off wifi i get the same as behaviour as the k-r42 gives, which is a useable ouya menu although my phone can't navigate unfortunately but the error script dissapears and does not return, this has to be a down server or some kind of change to a server has taken place and the address our fw links with is changed so it can't detect it as was prevciously written in,or if piggybacking off ouya's server is how custom ouya launcher works then there is a small chance they have put a block or fix for the address in the recent update that auto downloads if it's anything to do with ouya being the service provider there is a chance they could cut the line.

Pushing my luck I know, but any chance you could consider bundling in tvheadend support, and USB DVB-T stick support?
I have been toying around with this based on thread on xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2171412&page=3) - rockchip mk808 based, but working on assumption the similarities will apply. Would obviously depend on the stick, but seems base kernel modules are the same (original source http://www.holik.at/index.php?m=06&y...y130627-175237). Reckon it would be a sweet setup to have TV/PVR all in same device.

I haven't yet gotten my stick recognized, but that's probably user error
I have managed to get live TV working using my own DVB-T/DVB-S USB stick using XBMC and tvheadend. Once set up it makes an excellent TV box, you can be watching live TV one minute and switch to playing on a game the next, or even surfing the internet, it is excellent. I have uploaded a video showing it working. Sorry about the quality but I had to use my phone to record it https://vimeo.com/77356874

                            @sam321
Thats awesome. I'm going to be using Live tv with NPVR. I hope it works also.

I'm getting closer and closer to ordering the k-r42. I just need advice. Its for my daughter's room. She'll be using xbmc the majority of the time, however, the android part could come in handy. Am I correct in understanding that JustXbmc will not really have the android part in it. There are so many posts, all the info is mush in my head.

So as far as the software part of XBMC, does running XBMC with the hybrid firmware work the same as JustXBMC? In other words, does the either one work smoother or crash less?

Also, will she have issues with 720p and 1080p movies streamed via SMB? I asked this in an earlier post, but I think there have a few changes to JustXbmc since then.

I assume I will be installing either one on a sd card, am I correct?

Finally, i'm in the states. Geekbuying seems like a great price, but from what I understand it might take a while. Does someone suggest a different seller?

                            Thanks
