Well Mark, you got me there. I don't even see a google icon. I have two users set up and with both you can add widgets to the bit on the left of the lock, but i have never seen camera available. Used to have it on my stock samsung note but that also went when i changed the rom. Not sure if it is a standard android feature or an add on?

HAHAHA!!!!! I'm certainly not a grandpa yet...but I'm old enough to be (52). My son, who lives out of state (single..26) promises to let me know BEFORE I become a grandpa. He's not much for checking in with me very often.
When I started cooking ROM's for these tablets, I only had to concentrate on rooting, debloating and adding just a few tweaks I picked up along the way. With the addition of Multi-User and VPN support, I'm having some trouble getting all of that stuff working right. I appreciate all of the feedback.
Based on what you are finding with this ROM, I need to compile a list of what's working and what isn't with regard to these newer features. I want to make some major improvements to the next ROM, but it may require some testing along the way.
I'm also finding that some of my problems are a result of trying to preserve much of Pipo's UI stuff, like their launcher. While I found out that you can simply restore their launcher from a previous ROM with Titanium, I've still been keeping it.
Originally, my mission was to debloat everything but the apps required to run all of the hardware features, and I think I may return to that mission.Randy

For WiFi that seems to work always with most users but give it another go add this line into your build.prop
(edit please recheck the ownership it should be root/root)
ro.com.google.locationfeatures=1
ro.com.google.networklocation=1
ro.allow.mock.location=1
ro.com.android.dataroaming=true
net.tcp.buffersize.default=4096,87380,256960,4096, 16384,256960
net.tcp.buttersize.wifi=524288,1048576,2097152,262 144,524288,1048576
Best of luck please wait till you see the WiFi butler notification comes on if not reinstall it again.
It must have the network ip address set properly or you can just use auto.Last edited by Tableto; 21 October 2013, 19:29.

pipo's launcher i liked at first - then i tried APEX - now pipo's launcher is the first thing i deinstalled from stock firmware...(using it with miui theme - which pipo won't like to seesince it's by one of their chinese mobile phone competitors - but don't understand why they just dont develop a theme of their own versus a whole launcher of their own. efforts not wisely spent.)
Important things for me are: Stable, root, battery life, performance, apps (in that order..). Quite some hacks to apply to make the stock or current riley stable (wifi, gps)

I was eager to talk about my age (Im 54 and have two granchildren) but seeing lots of readers in this forum are in the age range, I would like to officially apply for a membership in the impromptu club.
I am a computer user since 1977, when I bought my first computer, an Atari 800 with 16Kb Ram module and a cassette recorder as storage media. The only programming languages available where the 6502 processor assembler and a very crude Basic interpreter.
Those good old days. Comparing those specs with the power of todays devices (like my Pipo M9 pro) makes me wonder where are we heading, what new technologies will be developed in say 10 or 20 years from now. Guess we have to be pattient and keep learning meanwhile.
I regularly use Riley's Roms but now since there are some issues with the last version I decided to install the stock firmware, removed all unnecessary apps (Pipo's launchers included) and like Picaye, I am now using Apex launcher and installed Xposed framework with GravityBox module, gives me most of the tweeks that I like.
Hope to see Riley's new rom soon.

I'm curious...why go all the way back to stock if you have problems with v1.8?
I would just go back to my v1.7, it it works best for you.
Just a thought.Randy

Welcome grandpa!
I had several attempts at installing the wrong ROM and thought I had bricked my Pipo. However, once I installed the correct ROM, everything was fine. But in my frustration I had tried a few things that I probably shouldn't have. So I think the M9 is almost unbrickable.
BTW, I'm 68.
I thought I have been listening/talking to a group of 10-16 year olds.
Two daughters - 28 and 30. Problem is that I'm still not a grandpa. I must have done something wrong.. Older daughter is a muso (drummer).

As I said, I love your work and think they do an excellent job in improving the functionality of my tablet, but...
I dont know how to say this without sounding rude. The fact is that I like the simplicity of Pipo's boot screen and subsequent animation. I can change the animation but the boot screen is still a little "aggressive".
I suggested some days ago that if you could make Pipo's logo and yours coexist into one fused image, that would make happy people like me who like the original image but want to give proper credit to you and all your hard work.
Besides I installed stock because I wanted to try the Xposed framework (got it in my Asus TF700 Cromix 5.1 working smooth) and if something went wrong didnt have to think your Rom was causing the problem.
Sincerely

Actually, I've been working on a different set of boot screens that incorporate the Pipo logo...I just haven't had time to implement them. I've been waiting on a new release from Pipo for the next ROM.
Switching to v1.7 was just a suggestion, since it's already rooted.
I use Xposed Framework myself and like it and all of the options very much. I think that's really the way to go if you want to add drastic modifications...which is the whole benefit of a custom ROM in the first place.
Keep enjoying my ROM's and thanks for the feedback.Randy

Thoughts from a Newbie...
I have recently received my new M9 Pro 3G. I've spent a fair bit of time reading various forms and info. I've now successfully rooted my tablet, reprogrammed the ROMS with v1.8, and installed a number of apps, some recommended from my research, and others as per personal preference.
Now for some thoughts and questions... I am a hardware design engineer by profession, so I'm not afraid of components, downloads, configurations, new firmware, etc. In fact, most of what I've read makes sense the first time I read it. I was wondering if anyone has put together a user's guide outlining the directories and files and their purpose or organization. This would be of great assistance to those of us who are looking to get into testing. As I mentioned, I've done a lot of reading, but the information is often fragmented and buried inside of several threads under different topics across multiple forums.
Feedback on RileyRom 1.8 OTA version... I noticed everything seems to be working well except the 3G functionality. If I download the latest stock PIPO firmware, both WiFi and 3G function very well and independent. With the RileyRom, Wifi works well, but 3G seems to be tied to WiFi somehow. I either get blue active icons for both, but when I have no WiFi either because I'm out of range, or I turn the WiFi off, the 3G seems to be unable to connect.
And finally a question... I have Titanium Backup installed (and SuperSU with BusyBox). I also have multiuser configured. Does Titanium Backup successfully backup all users if I run it from the administrator user, or do I have to run a separate backup under each user that I have installed?
I apologize for the rather lengthly first post, but hopefully I can help collaborate to identify and understand the low level files and functions so we can all benefit from a cleaner, more efficient, and fully functional set of ROMs and apps.
Thanks,
Reg

That's very interesting to hear that 3G functionality is impaired in my ROM, since I haven't done anything to the system that in anyway affects 3G.
I'll have to take a look and see if any of the apps I removed during the debloat process might have broken 3G, but I don't think so.Randy
