Sorry, but I'll be very happy for clarification...
    a. Do you mean that when using analog (the S/PDIF TOSLINK) it works fine?
    b. What about the AV out stereo audio? Does it work for you?
    c. I'm going to get my k-r42 box next week, and I read all posts here and in xda-developer. To be honest, I'm more than confused... Can I ask your kind advice which FW to install (Wassar's, with or without the new kernel, lewy20041's Hybrid or justxbmc)...
I'll be using it to watch movies from XBMC + via ethernet from a remote PC (Movies can vary from 720p to 1080p).
Will be wired to an amp with 5.1ch (via s/pdif) + in other cases hooked to 2.1ch speakers (via AV-out).
Will need the ability to browse the internet.
Play Store to download occasional games and apps.
It will be hooked to a mini-projector.

Very sorry again for my a-bit-long post... regards!

      No sound

I also flash the kernel and I had no sound, I saw that the device starts with the volume to "0", turned up the volume and perfect. No tv volume, the volume of android.

        k-r42-wasser-1.2.1 firmware test

        Hi guys!
I have been testing k-r42-wasser-1.2.1 firmware for about one week.
My device has V.2.1 board inside and it was tested with the three different 1080p kernels by wasser.
        Tested with 5V 4A PS(No stock).
        Here are my results.
        1) Kernel which is included in wasser's firmware:
-Ethernet works just in case wifi is switched off manually. There isn't error for RX traffic in log.
-Wifi works properly when Ethernet is switched off manually.
        -HDMI video/audio O.K.
-Harware and software Power button works properly with stock remote and T2 Airmouse.
-I can stream from Internet big sizes movies (30GB+, biggest was 57GB) w/o stuttering by using MX Player Pro(HW+) with custom codec.
-When I use MX Pro with HW(NO+) decoding, it allows me to have multi channel 5.1 sound via SPDIF(ROCKCHIP-SPDIF PASSTHROUGH), all kind of AC3, DTS, DD. It's perfect for playing local (USB HDD) movies. Concerning streaming movies from Internet by using HW, there is some restriction of bitrate (Up to 19-20Mbps).
-AnTuTu(V.4.0.4) scores are about 19000. Processor hardly warm.

But, device reboots time to time. Can play 1 hour, reboot, then 30 min, reboot, 2 hours, reboot, etc.

        2) Kernel "[email protected]#30 from Nov 1 2013" (I took this "kernel-k-r42-1080p-011113.img from here https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=42722...7BE5EAF8%21103):
-The absolutely same features as position#1.

        But MUCH LESS reboots.

        3) Last wasser's kernel from here http://www.freak-tab.de/wasser/kerne...2.1-111113.img :
-Doesn't allow me to switch an Ethernet on at all.

Didn't any test with it because is uselees for me w/o LAN.

I will be glad to see your own results with THESE hardware-firmware combinations.
        Good luck!

          @digger
thanks for so much experimenting. I suspect I have the newest board also, considering I just received it from geekbuying and because i had no lan when first using the latest justxbmc. I haven't tried using any other firmware other than justxbmc, but I did flash wasser's latest kernal (11/11?). that fixed ethernet for me, but for some reason I have no audio on the actual tv the box will be plugged in to. I experimented last night and found that my living tv plays all the audio fine. This combo of justxbmc and wasser kernal would work for me if i was going to use the living room tv, but its going to be plugged into my daughters tv.

I've stuck with JustXBMC cuz that's what she will be using the majority of the time. Have you tried the combo I used?

              Sorry, buddy,
It will be too difficult for me to explain all the difference you ask me about if you have never used MX Player before. One thing I can tell you, it is the best player for me after more than one year playing with Android based sticks/boxes. You can take some detailed information in forums which are dedicated to this excellent application, but my suggestion with the links won't be suitable for you, because I'm a Russian speaking person and use my local language forums as sources.

                        Hi jhr1948,
I can't help you with my experience of using JustXMBC. I haven't tried this firmware for my CS918, because my conclusions from past time had persuaded me that if I don't use XMBC, I always can reach all the needed media content with at least 20% less clicks. Try to flash wasser firmware which has XMBC onboard and I'll try to answer all your questions

                          Hi wasser,
Sorry, if I answer the question which wasn't addresed to me, but I tried to utilise these changes were suggested by franckleroy(Frank, thank you very much for your help and your skydrive too). I didn't see any visible improvement, unfortunately. This may be present, but we can't catch it with eyes, but with the some special tests or logs only.
And thank you for your possitive words regarding my test. If you want me to help you I'll do my best if I can.

                              someone have an idea?
I have edit the hole configuration column "path"...
""Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb" is showing...
BTW: My stock bootloader seems to be 1.20 (because of "cat /proc/cmdline" => "...bootver=
                              2013-05-18#1.20...") ...???

                              FIXED:
                              - deinstall / install driver (more than 1 time because want to get 3.0 instead 3.5 but seems so it's the same version???)
                              - use another cable
                              Suddenly EraseIDB works....

                              Than I got:
                              ERROR:Test device failed
                              ERROR:Run failed
two times, than deselect the bootloader and 3. try it work...???

                                Hello,

I'm trying to flash wasser's firmware but at first boot I get stuck with the CWM recovery menu. Which "parameters" file should I use? There are four: parameter, parameter8, parameter10 and parameter14...

                                Thank you for your help!
