Pipo M8 Pro RileyROM 2.1

Hi Randy,
Downloaded v2.1.2 3G four times and each time winzip tells me the files are corrupt. Would it be possible for you to check the download link?
I'd really like to try your improved ROM.

Just tried it myself and the download went perfectly (3G and WiFi both). The files unzipped just fine using the default utility in Windows 7.

Pipo M8 Pro RileyROM 2.1

It is great work ,thinks all of it.But I want to know why there is not 4.4 system.If so,I think this machine will be better

Pipo released a test version of a 4.4 firmware that was only available for one day...and it was taken offline. I never got a chance to download it.

Since then, Oma Rocks made a KK ROM for the M8 Pro...but everytime I have flashed it...it bricked my tablet. I have not tried any other KK firmware with it since then.

Also, it appears that Pipo has stopped firmware development on the M8 Pro.

You can look at it two ways. First assume that v2.1 is the culmination of 21 different versions and finally ended up with the most stable JB possible...or second, Pipo has given up on any further development of this tablet.

After several months of non development, I tend to hand down my devices to family members. Although this is perhaps my favorite screen size of all of the tablets I've had, it is my daughter's tablet, now.

If anyone finds a newer update...let me know. The latest updates have been coming from Anna...the Pipo Customer Service Rep. But a user has to ask her for it. They aren't posting new updates on their site, lately.

I don't have Anna's email...but you can get it from Pipo's Facebook page (I think)

There is a KitKat rom made by a Russian developer on 4PDA forum.

I have installed it on my M8Pro (faulty one with no screen display but HDMI OK, not because of the Rom but by accident )

It seem stable but I used it only to watch films on my TV

I prefer starting with an official firmware from Pipo. While others have ported KK for this device...I haven't had any luck doing one that I would publish as a RileyROM. I also tried the Russian version, which resulted in yet another bricked tablet. The up side is that I've gotten pretty good at unbricking.

As my tablet is not in a good shape and I don't use it , I have tried this firmware from SergioPoverony, just to see.

And it's OK now I don't need a miracast or a TV Stick

I just want share my experiment.

I respect Sergio's work...and I really like the ROM tool he developed. I just can't get his ROM to work on my tablet.

Long time stalker of this forum ;-) and very happy user of RileyRom 2.1 ;-)
However, I like to keep things updated so I asked Ana on Facebook to send me the official 4.4.2 Chinese Rom for the Pipo M8 Pro

And to my surprise she sent me a link to Wetransfer link today!
Don't worry, I already downloaded the file, so if this link goes down, I can always re-up.

So this is the official one!

Basically, the only thing I really need is Root. I can do the rest from there ;-) Any tips on how to 'relatively easy' root this tablet on stock rom?

update: looks like the file dates from April 3rd! So it seems a very recent update!

Just read your BIO. WOW!!! I'm a wee bit older but have done some of what you've done - ie radio dj, Did that to make a buck! Was a singer in a rock band and jingle writer for many years in South Africa. A bit off topic but no need to start a new thread. Hats off to you!
