I bought a X7-mini and tried Hardwareguru and Quickshot on it.
On both I have the problem that 1080p and even 720p movies in XBMC stutter every second or two...
Even on quickshot with 1704cpu_798gpu_800ddr i have a choppy 720p/1080p experience...?
I use the optical audio out and enabled Rockchip SPDIF, audio plays just fine.
There is no difference if the statusbar is hidden or visible, also not if I enable or disable subtitles.
If I watch the stats while playing a 1080p movie all of the cpu's are around 5-10% so HW accelerating should work.
I tried the on board XBMC by nitroteam and beyond xbmc 3.3, on both the same...
Also I play my movies from USB disks that are formated in ntfs (relic form my first setup with a atom/ion windows7 combination).
May someone has some more ideas?
thank you very much in advance!
So far I've determined four separate conditions that appear to be associated with playback problems.
1. VC-1 format.
2. AVC format, interlaced.
3. AVC format, progressive, all with 2 ReFrames, also some, but not all, with 3 ReFrames.
4. AVC format, Scan Type MBAFF, 29.976fps, 4 ReFrames, [email protected] - Plays but appears to skip frames, image jerks ahead periodically.
So far all AVC files with progressive scan and 4 ReFrames that I've tried play fine.
One successful workaround I have found is to remux with RipBot264. Unfortunately this requires a lot of processing power and time. With my 8 core AMD 8120 overclocked to 4.1GHz it takes about 2 - 3 times the viewing time of a movie to remux it at high resolution.
This is my initial experience these Android boxes, so I am no expert, but it appears to me that despite their nominally powerful hardware they currently are just not up the task of properly playing many movies that have been playing fine on three to five year old pure linux devices with much less processing power.

so I have no clue how they were ripped or encoded...
one I tried had 23.978fps, variable bitrate from around 5-10mbps (video) and around 1300kbps for sound (DTS 5.1) and subtitles. the mkv is something around 12GB.
But now on finless with the same oc kernel and beyondxbmc the movie plays smooth. I'm just happy I found a setup that works

I tried beyondxbmc and the normal one that comes with quickshot.
