If I only check only recovery in the rk android tool will it only flash that and keep stock ROM? I want to backup stock ROM first with cwm.

I have the original quickshot rom and the icons are so small and i cant use the quickshot v2 because it kills the front USB port. HOw can i make the icons bigger on the original V1 quickshot rom

To fix usb in V2 there is a quickflasher package update in the firsts post.
To set icons bigger in V1 you need to edit build.prop and change density propertie in the end of the script.

I'd test it but ur cwm doesn't have a backup of ROM ability. I'm new to these android tvs but is this not possible on this type of device?

Even ur cwm version copies the whole system.img. I'm familiar with the rom formats for cells where's we just copy the boot.img and system/lib/modules for kernel's.

The backup and restore are located second item from the bottom on the first page in cwm

EDIT... maybe... I thought this was the full QS v2 Neo x7 thread and not the mini... double check it anyway but I could be wrong

No.. the hardware differs slightly

Seems a different non x7 mini cwm works. Testing bk now.
