So far so good for the most part - I love this ROM makes my T428 much nicer

but my problem seems to be that every 15 minutes it resets the network connection (using wired USB that came with it)

I'll be using Media Browser and watching a movie and then suddenly it'll kick out of the movie and say nothing to play. But I can then hit resume and I'm good for another 15 minutes before it kicks out again. Seems to only do this when I'm watching videos - if I'm surfing the web etc it doesn't drop a connection that I notice....

    Any ideas?

Try to connect ethernet via powered usb hub, it helped in my case

Hmm figured I'd switch to WiFi to see if I still have the 15 minute problem, and it does... Kinda irritating when you're trying to watch a movie.

OK so when watching videos through DS Video I don't get disconnected every 15 minutes, but with Media Browser and with HBO Go I get kicked out every 15 minutes...

'Bricked' after Picuntu - then resurrected thanks !

Just thought I'd share my experience with you guys. I've been through loads of Android Roms and then tried Linux Picuntu 4.5 which was very nice but also very useless. It was kind of bricked then, couldn't seem to get the PC to recognize the stick anymore so couldn't reflash. Anyway threw it in a cupboard for 9 months. Then I found out about your Rom and thought I'd give it a go again. I took the T428 apart. I managed to get it recognized in your rom toolkit by shorting some pins on the NAND (after it was plugged in by USB to the PC so it was powered up). No idea which pins, I just dragged a needle over all of them ! I saw a spark, then the toolkit said "found maskrom" device (not MSC device). Did it again and got "found loader device". Anyway by this stage I thought I'd try and flash it anyway, I did and it worked - sort of. Got into a bootloop. Flashed it again and bingo! I was blown over by the way it played a 1080 HD film. There is no lag whatsoever. Then I put on XBMC and wow. A new lease of life for this otherwise useless stick. Now got MUPEN64 and EPSXE on it - both running like a dream. Thanks Bob, will be making a donation. One question - is there anyway to get into TWRP recovery without having to boot up and shutdown to recovery? I would like to make a backup in TWRP and be able to get into recovery mode in case of bootloop etc. . If we have to boot up first, and if it cannot boot up then how do we get into recovery? Cheers!

Yeah it's a great ROM! I have one of the RJ45 USB adapters and hooked it up cat5 and I see speedtest.net giving me 32MBPS on 45MBPS connection! 1080p? No problem here! My T428 works better than my Ugoos UT2 with wasser ROM 1.25 on it....

                  Tronsmart NX

                  Hello Finless,

Will this ROM work with the Tronsmart NX? Reason I'm asking is your "Tronsmart NX Box 4.2.2 - Finless ROM 1.4" was developed and tested on the T428.

                  Thanks.

                    Update?

I too would love to see an update to this excellent rom but understand how busy Mr Finless is. There are a few things that I would like to see updated that I have noticed in most of the updates that I have been flashing in my other numerous android devices. One would be incorporating the CM11 theme engine maybe.
But most of all I would love to see a rom that we could flash via TWRP or the working CWM recoveries that are out for this stick. As apposed to the flash tool.
Again, I know Finless is a busy person and I am happy to just have a smooth running Kitkat rom as nice as thismone is, but I can dream...

Just curious glockman, what difference does the method of flashing the ROM make? Be it with the tool or TWRP?

                        Cifs

I see that the modules for CIFS are not present.
Does anybody have them for this kernel?
I tried with the ones from http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...nel-based-ROMS, they load ok, but any attempt to mount a share would cause a reboot of the OS.

difference in flashing with tool verses TWRP

When you use the tool you have to connect to PC in download or flash mode and some of these sticks and devices can be tricky getting into that mode. But with TWRP you could just boot into recovery and flash the rom there, no PC required. I've also heard of some devs making their roms available in a recovery backup. You would then just download the backup and flash into recovery (TWRP) and do a recover with their backup essentially installing the rom that way. TWRP gives us alot of other options. Hope this helped or answered your question.

                            TWRP

@flhthemi I used to use TWRP on other Devices to flash new roms, as Glockman4159 says, and also to restore a backup when things went badly wrong. Makes life simple. However on other devices such as a phone or tablet there is a combination of keys you need to press at the same time eg. power button + volume down key which will get you into recovery mode. This is great when things go very wrong and your device cannot boot up - you can simply boot into recovery direct and reinstall the backup you (hopefully) made with TWRP earlier. I do not know on this rom and device if there is any other way to get into recovery mode other than booting up fully into android & then shutting down to recovery. This makes TWRP useless if the device refuses to boot up in the first place.

                              +1

I think the hidden button (on mk908ii) is only for booting the bootloader, but not to get the recovery menu, so TWRP on these devices I think is only useful when everything works fine and not as a disaster recovery option. Maybe someone may shed some light on this.

You can download an app from the Play Store called "Quick Boot" and this will let you boot directly into recovery. Also, if you download and install the "Arc Tool " package that you can find in this fourum, that tool kit will also allow you to boot directly into recovery.
