Oman we can use your expert advice in the Different firmware, different behavior thread. There is a lot of confusion and I have a feeling you can clarify.

          we all know android limitations ( 1080p 24, DTS-HD, True-HD Audio ... )

Sam Nazarko's crystalbuntu for atv1 and raspberry pi, the-hydra for xios and many others are same
In my opinion,Raspberry Pi and xios are assembled with low HW configuration,so using linux may help them to faster..

And s802 can support 1080P 24Hz,and also support DTS-HD,True-HD with XBMC..

I can do that...but I think it's not necessary to do this ,you could use 14.0 nightly version

The only thing I can say,all the round shape box are the same PCBA,the same FW.
Easy way to catch LOG -> Search 'Syslog' in Google Play, then install it and catch log

That would be great... 14 based xbmc is crash down with some add ons like Navi-x and has some issues with subtitles...

DTS-HD and True-HD options not showing up in xbmc audio setting menu under android and when I play them my AVR not detect it as HD audio, but same files in xios the-hydra linux which has HD audio options in setting show up as DTS-HD and True-HD in my pioneer AVR.

I'm starting to like my xbmc under android, I set my home to xbmc so it boots to xbmc and also I can run my android apps from programs menu. but how many times I use those apps ? lol .... almost never.

I think a solid xbmc box under linux would be much more stable and faster than xbmc under android.

But more stable and faster then what? I have no problems at android ... and I think your HD audio issues will be fix in future..

true hd is a terminology used for windows xbmc from what I've dealt with in the past (a setting in xbmc). As far as your other problems use the default confluence skin and select expert to gain more control over your settings if you know what your doing. Also ensure your android settings are correct. Everything will get better but this is nothing compared to a high end NUC. Trust me this is early development for a new SOC.

The biggest technology standard battle of all time will be who wins smart TV by numbers ie: global user base. Apple Google & Microsoft have 3 top secret projects on Smart TVs unrelated to what they offer publicly now. Samsung and Sony also have smaller secret projects. Winner will rule the future as it spreads to other devices. I think the winner will not be the above or the best which would be a Linux version.

It will be future and totally different versions of Android + XBMC.

BTW just got my M8 today and this XBMC version is running great. Thanks oman.

is it possible to have the option for put display to sleep when idle in Settings > System > Power Saving same as xbmc on other devices like crystalbuntu, Raspbmc, xbmcbuntu, ... ?

when idle time comes up xbmc just minimze or quit to android and android ui wont sleep and keep TV and AVR on.

quick question oman. what acceleration do you suggest for your xbmc? I see all 3 are enabled and I am assuming it is using amcodec by default since its the first option? is it true libstage is better than amcodec? People on here are saying amcodec has washed out colors and other "noise" compared to libstage so was just wondering what you recommend. Should I enable libstage and disable amcodec and mediacodec? anyone else using libstage over amcodec what do you guys recommend?

btw, your xbmc 14 used to crash when trying to access video and audio settings menu during video playback using aeon nox skin but this 13.1 version works great so far good job

he answered that earlier on in the thread. Initially I thought to only enable amcodec and mediacodec because amcodec is obviously for amlogic and mediacodec is for kitkat, but oman said enable all because different videos use different codecs (from what I understood from him)

I have yet to find a video amcodec hasnt been able to play so it works for everything so far. It seems libstage is not being used at all so if its the better codec I rather use that. I play mostly H.264 video files through addons. After some testing it does seem libstage has better colors unless I am going crazy and its all in my head
