I'm sorry if you understand my answers this way, that's not the way i want my messages to be understood. I really feels that langage and cultural differences led to misunderstandings.

Leolas answers are clear enough for me and i think they close the discussion: my problem is very specific and this rom can't handle this case.

Even if my problem can't be resolved I want to thank Leolas and the Nitro team for their great job, and i'm sorry if you felt any critisism or lack of goodwill in my messages that was not the intention.

No problem man, thanks for try the rom, and sorry we can't resolve your problem, but change the way that device works with the screen is out of my possibilities, we can adjust some parameters in the hdmi, mod a bit the code, but we can't rewrite it.

Trying this rom and wasser today, after using justXBMC... justXBMC puts out 1080p @ 60hz just fine... Wasser and Quickshot 3.1 both do too, except there are lots of pixels that flicker. The whole screen stays, but pixels will appear white or green or some other color, all over the screen distorting it. Any ideas on how to fix?

Quickshot v3.1 / Archos video player issues

Hello! I am very new at this.

First, thanks to the Nitro Team for this Rom.

I have two boxes: one Xtreamer Multiconsole and a Minix Neo X7.
Archos video player is very smooth playing videos using the MC, but it crashes a lot.

On the Minix, using 010 FW, Archos plays really bad. Camera movements are made like step by step.

I also have an Apple TV using Infuse and the same file plays fine also.

I am trying now QS 3.1 on the Minix and the box feels a lot better, I only have two things to report:

          1. Audio device selection is not kept after a restart. I have to change it to optical every time the box is restarted. It defaults to the first option (don't remember which one is).

          2. My other problem is still with Archos, it may be an issue with them, but the app plays well on the MC, using the same file and MX Player plays the movie perfectly on QS3.1.

I have a dilema here. I like the Archos UI (movie and series covers and info) and the user friendly videos search over the network, etc. The player has an option to use another video player, which would solve my problem, I could just navigate on Archos and then play the file on the MX Player. The problem is that subtitles are not loaded when I play in MX from Archos. If I play the file using MX Player alone, the subtitle is loaded fine.

Is there a way to make the MX Player load the subtitles when launched from Archos?

          Any help would be appreciated.

There are probably several possible causes...

If you've OC'd the system too much for it to be stable... always stress test after selecting an OC kernel. The default kernel shouldn't cause any trouble for a device with good hardware and also runs smoothly.

The file in question may be at fault... always do these tests with a file that is on the local drive to make it consistent and to ensure that isn't caused by a bad stream ( which is common with an internet source ).

Different players may also be using different codec's to decode the video... so one player may play a particular video that was encoded a certain way just fine and another may not just because the codec being used may not be as good for that file type. As an example... the included MX player ( and codecs ) are probably the best you can get usually... but I do have a file that crashes it on one of my other devices but plays perfect in the XBMC I have on the same device... on my Neo x7... the same file works fine in MX player... In this case there is nothing wrong with any of the softwares or devices... it's just a compatibility that shows up on a particular codec on that one device... so I use a different player to view it.

QS 3.1, 4.4.2 and kernel version

After a few weeks on QS 3.1 I am really satisfied with the stability and speed of my X7,
previous firmwares (even QS 2 ) cannot even be compared to it...

There are a few issues though, probably due to the underlying Android (4.4.2) and kernel
(3.0.36+) versions which I understand are not the best combination (as Minix wrote on their Facebook page on Jan 2 and other KK firmware developers, e.g. genny, confirmed).
For example, the built-in VPN (L2TP IPSec) client in KK does not work, both on the X7
and on all 4.4.x devices (including Nexuses).
This is a well-know problem that Google has not solved so far.

Dear Nitroteam, what's up your sleeve ? A more recent and capable kernel ?

                1. sorry a lot, but if you have a remote with a speaker inside, the best we can do for now is select hdmi output instead the remote speaker.

About archos with mxplayer, I will try the subtitles and try to find a solution.

Now we have not any improvement in kernel to make a new patch, we have some minor stuff to add to the rom, we will try to add them in a update package.

Thanks for looking in to the Archos/MX Player subtitles thing.
Yes, I have the Minix Neo A2. I don't mind switching sound devices every time.

Is there a way to turn off system sound effects? (like when moving around the icons or in the keyboard), or at least different volume control for system effects and sounds from apps?

in this sdk we can't deactivate the sounds.

                      I used Audio Manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...iowidget&hl=en

It lets me change the settings for the various sounds, ie alarm, media, ringer, system etc... as well as select different sounds for each also.

No OC, stock kernel. This happens on all android screens and any apps that are opened. If I take it down to 24hz or 720p at 60hz, it works fine. My blu-ray player does 1080p at 60 or 120 hz and doesn't have this problem, so I know it is not the TV. The justXBMC default kernel doesn't give me these problems, either.

My reply listed some possible causes... if they don't apply fine but it wasn't meant to start an arguement or for your to disagree with, just some directions for you to look into. Every situation can differ.

justXBMC's ROM is still on Jellybean... if you are going to compare it fairly... compare it to Quickshot v2 since KitKat does work differently. KitKat is smoother and faster than Jellybean but the things that changed to give us those advantages can affect other areas ( perhaps such as those you are seeing )

For most of the people here... in fact all so far up until you... no one else has reported the artifacts you are getting.... If you haven't tried them yet... try the kernels for those that were reporting flashing/blinking on the screen... it may help or may not but until you test, no one can say.

I wasn't trying to argue, I appreciate the suggestions I was just explaining the situation further. I tried those kernels too...I'm kinda confused. I may try a different HDMI cable and see if that helps...but it sounds like some sort of kernel issue.

I had meant to mention trying another cable on my first post... just make certain it's a good quality one and not a cheapy. The one that comes with the Minix devices are good ones, but like any cable they can also fail over time.

Also, if you aren't already ( you didn't mention one way or the other )... don't have any other devices connected between your x7 and your TV such as a Home Theater unit or HDMI switch... it's easier to diagnose with fewer components what may be the cause of something that way. Also... try any other HDMI input ports on your TV as well... just in case... again unlikely but still a possibility that could be easily eliminated with a quick test.

I just now tried another cable and that did not help. No receiver (yet) ...that's next to purchase on my list. 720p at 60hz looks just fine, other than not being 1080p I wonder if the LCD screen density thing mentioned in the top posts may have something to do with it?
