Sorry for the sarcasm, but it is not a smart answer...
I know I could use usb, but they are all busy and i cannot use an usb hub and...

It HAS sdcard reader... I just would like to know which card I should buy to use with Minix devices...
No one could post me a picture of his sd card ? O.o

How to answer this kind of question?
I use different noname and brand micro-sd cards (with adapter) 8 and 32 GB (class4, 10 , UHD) without any problem...

And sorry, but I think you can free one of the USB-Ports during that process...

The problem is that I do not need it for upgrade process... I need it to store data during normal use O.o
And every card I tried cannot be inserted in the correct way in the "reader" and system do not see it plugged.

I figured if you post a question in this thread you are referring to the topic. The discussion on this thread is the finless rom and it's installation . Other questions should be in separate threads.

I especially enjoy reading the ROM threads. Have spent hours and hours on them,, and time just cruzin the minix forum.

Got an x7 for my daughter early on. It was Bob's passion for, and appreciation of the device and the original minix x7 ROM that made the purchase decision so easy for me.

And A TIP OF THE HAT for all the other contributors that help Bob with replies, other ROM magic, and testing.

I am a fool

well bit the bullet and loaded Finless rom but being a prawn i thought the xbmc was the full app,i didn't realize i had to save it on an sd card from the original and then what I thought was the app was a Finless patch, does any kind soul happen to have kept that part that they could post for me or does anyone know how i can rescue myself from my stupidity, the unit is a bit pointless without a working XBMC, cheers Phil

Maybe I didn't understood you correctly but the XBMC compatible with this ROM is on the first page of this topic.

xbmc in Finless

Hi folks thank you for your replys I had loaded that before when launched it said that this xbmc build was for finless 1.0 which I am on so I assumed that the 34k patch that Finless posted was a patch to his rom as he stated quite clearly to save xbmc from original rom which I did not do which makes me a 22 carat plonker. I did however replace it with another xbmc Finless recomended which is working of sorts but having trouble with go tv and ftv, I have downloaded the original firmware for the x8 from minix and try and go back to that once I have read how to and what I need, on the x7 the roms I tried and used by Finless and Guru were complete however Finless clearly stated here about saving xbmc and being a technophobic I didnt follow properly its still all great stuff these guys produce and im sure it'll come out in the wash will plod on keep reading etc and see what is produced by these kinds who obviously put in a lot of hours thanks for the advice

LCD Density

Just got and X8 and have used X5 & X7 before. I use it with a 24" touchscreen so usually want smaller icons etc. Previously I just used to change ro.sf.lcd_density to 160 which worked a treat. However it is commented out in the build.prop

Does anyone know how I can change the density?

The touchscreen doesn't look to work with the usual method of just adding an idc file either. Shame. Have seen a thread on adding touchscreen support so will have to have a good read, I guess the kernel may not have multitouch support built in.

This is where LCD density is set. You can uncomment it in build.prop but it still wont work.

Thanks, gave it a quick try and edited the If statement to give setprop ro.sf.lcd_density 160 for either condition but didn't work after reboot and also tried just adding it at the end of the script (yes the change is persistent). I have added multi user and created another user so will re-install the ROM and try again in case it affected it. I assume the script runs every time the box boots so should be taking effect?

OK here is a patched Minix XBMC that will ONLY work on my Finless 1.0 ROM and ONLY if you applied my Device ID patch.

If you try to run this on any other ROM including the stock one, it wont work period!

Minix, also I found a better mouse trap for you if your interested.
We can keep things a partnership so future releases your XBMC will only work on your and my ROMs, and only for Minix X8.



Anyway folks, as promised here is a Minix XBMC that will work on my ROM.

Same here, it seems a server error, maybe it's fixed in a pair of hours.
I want to test Finless rom because the anoying soft reboot i am getting with plain stock version (mine is from 1 july)
