i want to get a multifunction IR remote cotrol with learning mode, QWERTY keyboard, air mouse to control most or all my devices (maybe i can even control my A/C lol). I've thought something like tthe rii mini i13 but the battery drains faster if using the mouse/keyboard often, also sometimes you have to re-program it.

Ooh I use cheap android tablet to control all my devices. TV. Radio Bluetooth control and having the wireless remote app for this just made my day.... and with nest yup even control the ac and door lock at the house with it 

Big ass Google keyboard works with the tablet too.

Cheap means without gyroscope (I have no idea if there also exist mobiles or tables with 3 or 6 axis gyroscope and I also down't know if any remote app exist which would be able to transmit this to TV box...???)

i checked this apps on your official versions 108k4 and down and also wasser 1.0.3.
this apps works perfectly on other android devices so i think the problem is in hardware codecs.
i saw there is a known issue called jerky playback for Xvid avi so may be this is the cause of the problem although i think there are movies which aren't with xvid avi and dosn't work so may be it something else.
Do you know if in the next release you will handle this issue?

i have all apps updated to the last version from the play, but may be its related to a player like 4kplayer that comes with these roms.
all those apps uses diffrent players(comes with the app or use unknown players, not mxplayer, diffrent guis) and it works on other devices so i think again that this related to codecs that those players use - i so confused.

i don't have the sufficient knowledge to find the problem and fix it, do you know what can cause it and how it can be fixed?
This fix is critical for me and i sure for many others too and i hope it can be resolved soon.

i saw in tronsmart subforum that their rom come with OTA functionallity, do this rom for beelink (108k4) come with OTA? because it didn't see it in the description. and if not,in the next version it will support it?

A few days ago I bought MXIII TV Box (http://www.bee-link.com/en/goods.php?id=56).
Since many years I use PopcornHour as my main media center, I have a few comments to the current MXIII firmware.


Generally it's a very good TV BOX but has some small, annoying bugs.
After correcting these little things can be the best android (XBMC) media center


1. This does not power off external USB drives in suspend mode.

My PopcornHour also could not do, but the problem solved by write a simple script. This script sends the command "spin down" to all connected USB drives before going to suspend mode.

   sdparm --command stop /dev/sdd

Maybe you can do something like this in the new version of the firmware.


2. Names of mounting points of external USB devices are always sda1, sda2, .... regardless of the real partition names.


I currently have 3 hard drives connected through a hub to my PopcornHour (Drives formatted in NTFS partition named "films", "series", "concerts".), and PopcornHour sees them as a resource named "films", "series", "concerts".
I tested it in amlinux - is just as well.


In MXIII Android TV Box these discs appear to be "sda1", "sda2", "sda3", but after the power is turned off and back on again, prev "sda1" is now "sda2", or "sda3", depending on the speed of activation of the disks.
And if you create a media library in XBMC based on the drive name (can not be otherwise?), Suddenly the whole library sucks.


It's not a big problem if you are using MXII only as a simple player. You know, you connect a USB stick and play the movie. But if you use XBMC in library mode, sorry it did not work well.


This is the biggest problem for me. It contradicts the idea of building a media center based on XBMC installed on this item.


3. NFS not working


Finally, two questions .... maybe Stane can help .
1. How to make XBMC shutdown - turn off Box?? (It does not matter - I have logitech harmony and I can program a sequence )
2. Is it possible to simultaneously get the decoded audio on analog audio output, and DTS or AC3 on HDMI (passthrough)? (It may be to compile a version of XBMC). My old PopcornHour A200 doing it without a problem.



And.... what about passthrough DTS HD and Dolby True HD?

I worked as a software QA tester for approx 5 years, so have fun with the regression and new feature testing, I'd be interested in how you automate testing on an android media box.. I'm guessing using commands sent over ADB?

Mostly we test media box following guidelines ..and also can run Monkey test..or CTS test,but we barely do that.

Oman there is a problem when the box is in suspend mode...
a. Sometimes after put the box to sleep/suspend the led will turn red as it should BUT seconds later the led will turn blue for very few seconds then goes back to red, it keeps repeating that behaviour while in suspend mode randomly. When that happens i can't wake it from my remote control which works great when suspend mode works properly as it should, so the only way is to press the power button to wake it.

b. There is also another weird behaviour right after you flash the rom (fresh install) if i put the box in suspend mode it willl do the red - blue led change AND i'm able to wake the device from the remote control, BUT then the remote control will stop working properly and only a reboot will fix the remote control.
However this problem stops at certain point and problem a. above takes it's place.

Note that i'm not using the remote control that came with the box and that when the led turns blue from red while suspended, my TV display remains the same, so i don't think the box even partially wake.

Here's my story with the problems mentioned:

Fresh installed 108k4 stock rom, i restored my apps and as soon as i could i placed the custom keyboard layout for my remote control in the respective path, used it to suspend the box and problem b. arrived. I reflashed several times with other recoveries and tried different things like NO data restoring, etc but still problem b. would be present. I gave up and decided to leave it like that for a while, so i turned off the box this time after a fresh install. Next day i powered it on, used the box for hours and then used my remote control to put it to sleep/suspend. later on tried to wake it using my RC and this time IT WORKED!!!, even better it kept working great UNTIL one day it stopped working and problem a. began. I really can't tell what exacly caused problem a. to start but i remember to have messed with XBMC and installed finless CPU patch 408/1992 Mhz Interactive before that PLUS the HDMI output stopped working, so i had it fixed but i'm still stuck with problem a. .
Power off trick doesn't work anymore and i won't start from scratch to see if it make it work again.

That was all lol i think is enough information for you to look it up AND WOULD BE NICE IF OTHERS CAN CONFIRM THIS, eather problem a., b. or both.

Some apps can wakeup the system..We'll close that in next version..

BTW,the 109k4 is approaching..

Last couple of days with this rom movies pause themselves like they are buffering periodically.

Like watching Ghost Ship every few minutes the movie stops pauses and restarts a few seconds later.

The box is connected via wifi to my usb drive on my pc but this buffering/pausing never happened before upgrading to this one.

I haven't had this issue on past releases anyone else have this problem and or know of a solution?

I think it might related to Network...For example,if the video bitrate is 20Mbps,but the 2.4G(ap6210) wifi throughput is around 15~25Mbps...So it cant steaming that video..

But if you connect 5G wifi(ap6330),it will be better.

Any response to the BT stack flow issue for the m8 yet??? Id really like to see a resolution for that then we can start playing with ps3 controls.

AML improved decode capacity ..So I suggest you test on next FW..

In China,we cant view google facebook youtube as normal,you know that? and so many other website..But Freaktab is fine..

Yeah this happens *most* of the time. But from what I've seen it's possible to turn it back on from the remote.

I personally keep this box on 24/7. The power usage while idle is so low that it doesn't make much sense putting it to sleep. Better yet, it's always ready to go!

Perhaps the bigger issue here is that, when this happens, the box prevents the local HDDs to go to sleep. (or at least that's the case with mine)

Minor bug, rather annoying however. Hope it's fixed soon.

Local HDD cant be sleep,no idea to fix this because of HW design..

There's something i want to mention about external usb drives not spinning down in suspend mode.

Before i had my box fixed for the HDMI output problem, my external 3tb 3.5" HDD would spin down after few minutes of being in suspend mode. The same behaviour had after minutes of not in use when the box was on and running (blue led), BUT after my s89 box was fixed the HDD spins down right away.

I don't know which behaviour is better (wait few minutes to spin down or do it right away, fast). I'll make a quick video of that soon

ive got a S82b round-box - netxeon s83 v2.1 board

i originally had 105k4 fw on it,

Notification sounds was working
but i recently updated to 108k4 and now the notification sounds don't work
if try and select different sound it don't play
there's a big list of sounds but none are playing

DTS-HD passthrough

--DTS HD is ok,True HD isnt OK..

I tested all (I think) combination of digital audio settings in my MXIII and in XBMC software, and in results I have only lossy DTS, not DTS HD, despite displaying DTS-HD icon in XBMC.

My home cinema receiver is Denon AVR-1610.

These same files for my PopcornHour A200, of course, give the DTS HD.

i dont why but getting odd issues with videos in few programs and its not consistant and video studder. using leolass latest rom and build included. i see mx player doesnt support amlogic and no player on market has updated codex for this device yet is this something we can ask manufacture to produce for us as seeing alot of issues with same problem. rooted xbmc is only with the m8 platform.

willing to try new builds but few getting frustrated as older boxes providing better quality and reliablity then the m8 now. i know i am not alone here Oman, did the sdk change in the last release that affects the playback ? seems to be more present in 108 releases??
