Thanks dankec for identifying the real problem behind these devices. Working CODECs with all kinds of files. Till then will be using my pi.

Sorry oman not your fault, it's amlogic to blame...

Thanks, but It's not me who identified this problem. Stane explained it to me on linux thread and I just re-post it here...

So, is there any way to persuade amlogic to upgrade bad old codec?
Someone maybe knows someone who works there?

Future is lookig good... Here's what Amlogic just replied regarding this subject:

      "
We are aware of the issue and confirmed from our engineering side that we do have plan to improve ffmpeg.

Thanks again for your interest in Amlogic solution.

Sure I mean thanks for pointing it out. Been yelling for this issue from day one but 99% of the people in this forum thought that stutrering was only because of lack of 24p support. They got convinced only when they got 24p support and their files were still stuttering.

The only way to get smooth playback is to diselect all codecs and do a software based decoding. Not really an elegant solution in these devices to put all load on the processor when at the same time it has issues wih heating.

If this is fixed then I might get my s802 back..

I received another mail from Amlogic... They're asking for problematic file so that their engineers could examine it. (It seems that they're really keen to fix it once for all)

Vpraisons, do you have a handy, small segment of stuttering video to upload it somewhere for amlogic research purpose?

I think that someone who works (not working) with AMLOGIC should try and contact them - like OMAN???

My S89 Elite plays everything I throw at it without issue, with all 3 hw codecs selected. What kind of files are causing issues?

Im running finless 1.9 with the xbmc provided, audio passthough selected.

Xvid files with "amlogic" codec enabled (and not "libstagefright").
Check if you enable amlogic and try with this file:

+1 same here, what would be the advantage to use amcodec only vs libstagefright (or all codecs selected)?

dont get me wrong if they fix it then superb, any fix is apreciated, just wondering the above.

Using leolass rom with gotham 14 beta 3 all codexs enabled and working good just some videos blury video and sees to be better with this player then all the others. still can see some pixels not greatest piture and if you disable am on this build it does not play videos so as i said something changed in the beta 3 of this build.

xvid same as above. but note its same affect in any build with the video quality. If they want tested let me know have a few boxes still here.

                        edit beelink m8 from oman.

Here's another Video example to test amcodec problem:

With "amcodec on" there's a problem with sound&video sync. With "amcodec off" no problem at all.

OMG! 109k4 changelog looks awesome including the DRM and fix for all those "small" annoying issues. Can't wait.

@Oman is the XBMC 13.2 version added stane's version or yours?

will the removed popup notification ("when XBMC load for first time") work for any XBMC version or only the added in the new firmware?
