Oman's Xbmc works best with this box. Other versions I was getting audio but no picture. I'm running Finless 1.8 btw.

I was using finless 1.8 with xbmc kodi alpha 3 and acceleration set to software and multi thread on. This seemed to be working pretty well. Only issues was interlace issue and occasional crash of xbmc on initial opening of xbmc. Once it has beene opened then works fine. I recently switched to the new Eny rom from Stane and haven't noticed any interlace issues.Comment

OK as I am not a XBMC expert. Can someone tell me why the permissions need to be set to 666 on this folder tree?
Is it to allow you to run standard XBMC instead of a modified one?
Some plug in problem?
Fill me in as I can actually add this in my ROM so no script is needed but I want to know what this allows?

without this you only get sound and no video. The other alternative to this is to turn off all video acceleration which isn't good.
This is due to XBMC being already modified on these boxes pre loaded. With this you can use the latest off the XBMC website without problems

No idea why it's not previously been added. Seems a lot of people don't have a problem with running an old Ver of xbmc or turning off acceleration.

OK so this was pretty easy. Not sure why they are making a modified XBMC to fix the permissions when it can easily be done in boot.img.
Please test this patch.
All this does is replace boot.img in my Finless 1.8 ROM for the ENY square box.
I have tested and check the permissions of the files after applying and they are correct. Just don't have time to test standard XBMC.
It does not erase or do anything else. The boot.img is a modified one to fix permissions and is to ONLY BE USED with my ENY Square box Finless 1.8 ROM
No instructions! Just apply the update from recovery. If you don't know how to do that then you should not be messing with it.
REMEMBER TO TEST THIS, Remove all the init.d script you may have added BEFORE applying this patch. If you don't then your not testing it!
If this works for everyone I will start to add it to all my future ROMs.
Let me know how it goes...

FYI, Just for testing purpose! I am using M8N with XBMC 13.2 (latest stable XBMC without modification) from XBMC.org! Of course with your ROM 1.8! Without this patch, XBMC can plays only audio (No Video)!

Installs but boots only to Finless bob wallpaper
I have just installed the finless 1.8 ROm. It installs correctly but when it reboots it just shows the Finless Bob 1.8 Rom screen and stops there....Comment
