The only suggestion as I can make is to check out Greenify... you might like it.

P.S. Apps like Greenify may not work correctly considering Android doesn't properly report the correct battery level.Freaktab Rom Developer

Big question, what have you deciphered
and can we use the kernel built for this device for cm11? Reason is many androids have used stock kernels to boot custom roms

The stock kernel should work for any current Android build. (CM11, ParanoidAndroid, OmniRom, AOKP, etc...) The challenge is creating a device tree to build one of these ROMs for our device with all of the necessary drivers to support the various hardware components. We are part way there now that I have TWRP compiling successfully.

For the next book, what have you gathered on it?
Do you have info on the next book to make a ROM yet

I think you mean can I compile a non-stock based ROM from source or port one from another device. I think so, but it's going to require a lot time to setup, compile, debug, recompile, retest, etc... It's not a quick or easy process...

Right now, it doesn't support rockchip update images (yet) and the only way to switch between TWRP and stock recovery is to flash the recovery partition via one of the many PC rockchip flashing tools. Do you know how to do that?
After I make a few more changes, I'll be looking for a few people who want to test the normal TWRP features, while I work on porting the rockchip update image code to TWRP.
