Cool I'm glad you figured it out.. Enjoy! So far this build has been performing great in my MX2 box, i haven't had a problem with it at all... All Credits goes to codesnake without his hard work porting to these amlogic devises we would be nowhere..

Cheers. Yes it is. Doing friends box and when on android with kodi 15 the thing was soooo laggy and the films played all stuttery. With openelec now, they play fine . Even 1080p!!
          Great work codesnake!!

            hi

I am new to this and would appreciate any help, got a mx box with G18REF board(system mbx ref board(g18ref), currently have the stndard 4.2.2 that was shipped with the box

Wwhat i have done is downlaod the full installation for my box from the link on the front page
            1. Copied it to the USB and via mx menu(sys Update, chosen the OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX2.arm-6.0.1.zip file(this fails saying check file vailidy)
            2. Then tried to extract the zip file and then choose via same menu OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX2.arm-6.0.1-update.zip and this works and reboots, after reboot is says initialization failed and gives me options
like data/wipe tried all and all fails and box goes back like a new box

Sorry for the questions it must be simple any guidance appriciated

Take a look at this video,

And do the same.. Getting into recovery and
Installing OpenElec on these boxes is a little different.
