[ROM] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV boxes (M8, MXQ, TV110, MX2/G18)

Ensure your running at 1080p within xbmc. I think it defaults to 720.

Yes that's right, I think it is obvious.

Is the build MX2/G18 for S82 round box too?

          Remote control remapping hwdb.b

You can remap your remote control by adding a 99-xxxxx.hwdb file in the configfiles/hwdb.d folder.
I've remapped unused keys on my Rii-i25 wireless airmouse and all keys work perfectly. You need the scan codes for each button and vendor/product code. Here's my 99-Rii-i25.hwdb file. Once you've remapped your M8N remote codesnake could add them to 60-keyboard.hwdb to make them permanent.

Hi guys, first post. Seems a great community here and I really appreciate all the tinkering that goes on to get the best out of devices such as the M8.

This OpenELEC rom is the best I've tried so far, so many thanks to codesnake for his efforts. I have an issue however, and I wanted to mention it as it's basically the only thing stopping my M8 being spot on for what I want.

I have the original M8 square, with the rounded remote. All works fine apart from after waking with the remote - when it comes back on I just get a blank screen on my TV so I have to unplug it. It's just like installing the original rom, as though it's outputting in the wrong resolution? This occurs whether I turn it off/on within minutes or hours.

Any help would be much appreciated!

What resolution setting do you have xbmc set to?

Can the temp in the system info be trusted? Mine is reporting 104°c on my mx2?

It's set to 1920x1080p. When I first boot the M8 my TV displays 720p before switching to 1080p after the OpenELEC logo.

Wow 104°c is almost unreal... Mine shows a question mark "?" as temp.

I think Temps are a bug... I don't think they report correctly... I might be wrong

Does anyone know how to flash the updated .tar , it is not visible in recovery menu. Should I change it to .zip and flash it?

Just place the .tar in the Update folder from your laptop, reboot the box and it will automatically update

                              i.e. \\YOUR IP ADDRESS\Update

And if you have a mac it'll be on the left column in Finder, as long as you have shared enabled. With mac you do not need to input any IP address. Finder automatically finds whichever devices in your house that have shared or samba enabled. No need to unzip the folder either, just like polys said just drop the whole file in the update folder.
