Hey guys! I received my M8 box today and have been thinking about OpenElec.

    1. Are there any step by step instructions on how the latest build can be deployed?
    2. Any known issues with the latest build for the M8?

It's easy just download the zip. Unpack, put the three files on a sd card.

Push in the reset button with a toothpick in the av hole. Plug in the power wait to secs. And release the reset button.

      That's it.....

No issues for me on RC3....(4.97.3)

        Hi All,

I've tested various versions from Openelec on the M8. Codesnake and amlinux.ru versions. But, why is there so many lag in the Gui in every build from Openelec on the M8. On Android Rom en Kodi 14 no problem with lag. No matter what kind of skin is in use. Because of this problem, I went back to Android again with Kodi 14.1

        Greetings,

          Huh?? Lag on Openelec??

Never had any issue.... Android has lag and is very slow....

Just do a test with scrolling through large list of video addon's....

Then you know who the winner is Openelec

            @wackidth,

Try Openelec with 1080xf skin or the 1080xf.mb3 skin, even in the Confluence skin there is noticeable lag. Scroll/swipe from left to right in Gui. Then you'll see what I mean. Do the same in Android with these skins. Android goes much smoother.

I have the complete opposite experience.

backing up factory ROM currently on M8

After buying over 10 M8s from China on ****, I recently bought an M8 from the U.S. stock and when it arrived it was actually a new M8, like the listing claimed. All the previous ten I had bought were all used when I received them from China, even though the listing stated that they were new. I didn't really care because I was flashing to MX Linux or OpenELEC, but when I received the U.S. stock M8 I decided to test the XBMC on Android and it works. I couldn't believe that XBMC actually worked, plus the Android actually runs nicely. It does have the google play connection flaw and the preloaded XBMC apps are bad and un-deletable! The question I have is now that I found a working Android can I back up this Android version to an SD Card or Flash Drive from the M8, so that I have a beautiful working Android back up to back up to later?? Anybody know?? Thanks.

Does Pulsar work with the MX2/G18? I think last I seen it didn't work.

You should look for TWRP here in the forum. With this recovery you can make a backup of your android.
