I rushed out and ordered a Black 32GB version of the U65GT just before reading in this forum that it apparently has issues with the 2.0 ROM <duh>
Clearly, I would like to be able to update my ROM from 1.8 to 2.0 though.
What puzzles me is that in an earlier post, someone claimed to have a fairly recent 32GB black version supplied from new with firmware 2.0.
Can anyone explain this? Is it possible that recent black 32GB models are compatible? Mine is date code 1438 in the serial number.

    Thanks...

      fasty,
      who knows?

you need to flash the new rom and see if it works.

Some users with older black models managed to install V.2 rom without issues. You can always go back. So try to flash it and let us know!

I ordered one of these (32gb black model) on 24th November and it arrived yesterday...settings say I have v2.0_20141111 installed so maybe this answers your question?

Pah! I'm jealous - my black 32GB U65GT arrived yesterday too but with September software on it.
OK, looks like it might be worth trying, although I'm a complete newbie to flashing Android stuff, so rather nervous.
Many thanks for the quick replies!

Install only through modrecovery (CWM ot TWRP). There are no guarantees! pre-backup is required!
            Checked user giouncino.
Statistics can only operate properly after deleting a file batterystats.bin from folder
            /data/system and reboot.

Has anyone tried this? The name of the downloaded file is different the file name written up there & is not in zip

Can you guys tell us which serial number you have. So far I have heard that white tablets from 1446 and black tablets from 1447 come with V2.0 installed. Fasty, if you try V2.0 tell us how it goes and where you downloaded the firmware (pan.paidu.com, mega.co.nz or 51cube.com), please. If it is not working I guess you can try Lepi's mod V2.0. It should work with black and white tablets (serial number after 1426).

I have white tablet from 1430 and it came with V1.8 July installed. I updated to V1.8 September and then to V2.0 (mega.co.nz) with no problems. Thanks to the community! Great site!

OK, my black 32GB is date code 1438 so perhaps understandable it came with V1.8 ROM.
I downloaded V2.0 from cube but haven't worked out how to flash that yet, let alone restore it if it fails. I'm probably not the best candidate to test!

Please refer to post # 50 by giouncino . It worked for me, with no loss of data or apps.

It is very easy. ROM_2.0 file is "U65GT_V2.0_update_aatt_20141115.zip" atleast if you download it from pan.paidu.com (password: sb1j) or mega.co.nz. I don't know what name it has when you download from 51cube.com.

If your touch screen is not working after upgrade you can always flash "repair update" from drive.google.com via SP Flash Tool.

EDIT: This Guide is for flashing zip-files. "repair update IS NOT" zip-file. Sorry, my bad.

Guide (translated from here 51cube.com with google translator):
                          1. Download zip-file and rename it to "update.zip" via PC. Copy the file to the root directory of the tablet storage space or external sd-card.

                          2. Turn off tablet. After the tablet is off, press and hold the power button and then immediately press and hold the volume+ button. Hold it as long as the recovery menu appears. You can navigate in recovery using volume- button and enter with volume+ button.

                          3. Use the Volume- button to move the cursor to "wipe data / factory reset", press the volume+ to enter, and then use the volume - key to move the cursor to "Yes - delete all user data", press the volume+ button to confirm clearing data ( Clear data operation may take two minutes or so , pay attention to patient)

                          4. After the operation is completed, use the Volume- to move the cursor keys to "wipe cache partition", press the volume+ button to confirm clear cache

                          5. Then use the volume- key to move the cursor to "apply update from sdcard" or "apply update from sdcard2" (depends where you put the "update.zip"). Press the volume+ to enter, wait about 5 seconds. Use the Volume- key to move the cursor to the format you want to brush into the ROM zip package, press the volume+ button to confirm the brush into the ROM package

                          6. Wait! The bottom of the screen displays "Install from sdcard complete" when installation is complete. The cursor automatically return to "reboot system now". At this point press the volume+ key to reboot.

After that you can always try Lepi's mod (V2.0) if you want V2.0 rom.

                          Thanks for sharing serial number.

                            Hi Brian

As you already know I am a fan of your wonderful roms. I have the latest cube that came with the V2.0 rom. It even OTA updated itself twice!.
What I cannot understand is why they would only leave 2gb of space for apps when I have the 32ig version...

Can you cook something up for me with a 4gb or even better 6 gb capacity?

You should be able to flash one of the pairs of ebr files I distribute with my ROMs.

OK, I have the ROM2.0 zip file no problem.
I'm still puzzled about repair if it fails though!
The file on drive.google.com is a .rar archive. Seems wrong to simply rename as .zip.
                                Can anyone advise?
