It should be public already. The large files are still syncing - I'll post again when it is finished.

EDIT: You were right, bryman - I just made the folder public, but there are only five files there right now. The system dump and the zip file containing all of the files are still syncing - could be a while - they are huge!

Im just wondering how im going to restore my bricked tablet with these files, ill just have to wait until finless gets a hold of them and does his magic on them ..
I checked big lots earlier today, their out of the nextbook tablets, Im to stubborn to take this thing back to big lots or return it to nextbook. I took it apart for a few days, let it drain out the cmos or whatever. now im getting a blinking light on it. I think this blinking light is waiting for files from the sdcard , when i hold the volume down and press the power button i get three really short blinks..

Yeah, I'll bet he can put something together that you can load from the SD card.

How did you get the thing apart, anyway? Did you take pictures? Did it go back together so you can't tell it was opened up?

It finally got cold here in the last week or so... it must be freezing up there! Is there snow on the ground or is it just icy?

You might be able to restore with a stock recovery and rom from eegor's tablet on a sd card like we had been trying previously? Short of that start running stuff from that flash tool perhaps.

It was pretty easy, theres one screw near the sdcard, then i just slid my fingernails into it. yes i took pictures.. lol ..there are two screws on the motherboard.. the touchscreen ribbon is kinds hard to get back into place, but it went back together nice, u cant tell anything until u take it apart .. lol

yeah its been pretty cold at night around 5 or 10 degrees at night, high 30`s to high 40`s during the day.. we have about 6 inches to 2 feet of snow depending where you are, they been putting the salt on the roads up here for the last 5 or six years which sux, but its still icy .

Now that my tablet is rooted, what do I have to do to get Google Play to run on it? Or should I just wait until Bob cooks up a flashy new ROM for us?

well the recovery file is 8192 KBs so i dont think that would be a big enough file.. what file would I use the system file and rename it update zip?
Im fubared on the flastool, it wont recognize ther tablet anymore in the tool, i get an error, missing usb_spl.bin .. I even tried throwiing the usb_sbl.bin file on a sd card, it was a no go ..
so from what ive read, these are the files i need, factory_update_param.aml, uImage, u-boot-orig.bin and an update.zip file, supposedly they all work together, uncompress, expand when put on the sdcard. i hope it works..

For the play store just install an ics version of GApps from the cyanogen site. You won't be able to flash it without custom recovery but can copy over the system apk files and such manually then just install the play store apk from the GApps package.

Bryman, the recovery itself is small, remember those uimage_recovery files? For the rest I think you could get that recovery file from eegor's upload on the root of a sdcard and the vol down plus power like we had been doing when trying alternate recoveries to flash a copy of eegor's dumped rom / system partition, or wait to flash a rom that Bob comes up with.

My nand is wiped, My hdd is starting from a clean slate, I have no bootloader, no little green guy.. no recovery screen. the uimage, works with aml file,l u-boot file and update file they cross check each other for verifications and sha sums and build the system together.

I will try renaming one of the system.img files .. downloading now .. I would have to have linux installed, convert the system img to linux ext4.img then open it up in ubuntu. then extract it , I dont have the ability to do that right now.. the system file is in the wrong format for me to work with. I wish i could,
I just put all the files on the sdcard.. ill just let it do its thing.. this might take awhile ..the light isnt triple blinking anymore.. im going to let it charge, in case this dont work it will be fully charged for working with in the morning.. Peace out man .. And thanks again for the files .. you guys Rock ..

I downloaded the file you are talking about, but there are at least 20 apk files in it. Do I need to install them all?

I tried another simpler method to install the older Market app (How to install Android Market on the Nextbook NEXT8SE Android Tablet) that I used previously on a 7" Uniden tablet (same as Polaroid) that includes a couple of initialization apps. It worked perfectly on my Uniden tablet, but it came rooted and wide open. All three apps installed okay on my Nextbook and the Market app starts up, but it doesn't get past the point where it asks me to set up a google account on this tablet - it just stops abruptly.

I think the problem is permissions. I can now become superuser in a shell, and the Superuser app can grant root access to apps that request it, but if an app is assuming it will have access to something that these Nextbook jerks have locked down, it won't ask for root access. One problem I can think of is the /data directory, but there are probably more.

Bob, this question is for you, too. What permissions should I check, what should they be set to, and what is the syntax for changing them using chmod or chown?

Even with the nand wiped, your tablet has a low-level bootstrap programmed into the chipset that will allow it to load firmware from an SD card. If I were you, I would just wait for Bob to put something together for us.

You literally have a clean slate and nothing to lose! Your tablet is the perfect test vehicle for a new ROM - please wait a few more hours to do anything until Bob has something for you to try.

I think there's only three of those system apk files required to run the play store, definitely frameworkservices and most likely the ones that deal with Google accounts. To be safe I'd copy all of them to the folders they come in from the zip file (system/app, /bin, etc). You can always take stuff off later with titanium backup once the play store is working.

It didnt do anythinhg, it was no harm. my tablet needs to be charged anyways. ..

Finnless was saying something about they have done something with the verification files disabling the play store, He said he needed to fix it.

Yeah, but what about permissions? I think that is going to be a problem with a lot of apps.

I never had to change permissions when installing gapps, that might have been because the aosp based ROMs I was using though. They may have done something else to this stock ROM to prevent using the play store services?
