Melcab, the black inverted netflix v 1.8.1 works fine on this tablet! It's a little glitchy when fast forwarding or rewinding, but no problems otherwise. Uninstall the other one and install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1546053 . I take no credit as I found this solution somewhere else on google, credit due to that author and flappjaxx at xda. Also, amazon appstore works on this tablet, but does not display after a restart. This can be solved by clearing the appstore data and re-logging in. Apps>Amazon Appstore>Clear Data
Also, maybe we don't need to root to get the google play store... But then again, I am not a developer. I found this site http://gunnersbarn.wordpress.com/201...ook-premium-7/
I followed the instructions with the gapps supplied on the site, then with the ics gapps downloaded from the cyanogen site, and I was able to get the play store on the nextbook, but cannot login, google services framework says that there is no network connection. I tried different apk combinations from each gapps package. Consistently googlebackuptransport.apk would not install. I have a suspicion that if we find the correct version of these apk's, then we may be able to get google play without root.
Thanks for working on this guys, I cannot wait until we find a root method or other method, to get google play without a 3g dongle.

Also, this tablet is for my young daughter so I can't risk bricking it until Finless has a way to restore the original rom. But if there is anything I can do, such as a rom dump or something. Give me instructions and let me know. I sure hope we get this figured out! Maybe if we flood nextbook with requests for what we need; maybe they'll give it up. I mean, even HTC unlocked the bootloader...LOL. Just let me know what to ask for..
Plus, there seem to be multiple threads on xda about this root also. Trying to get everyone consolidated...
The end of this thread talks about the AMLogic devices: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...374742&page=13
Eegor has already been to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=35613630
Has anyone tried this unlock root v. 3.1 method? Fin and eegor are on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2017866&page=3

Nextbook AMLogic Root Cover Question
I have the particular model of Nextbook being Rom'ed in this thread. I am eagerly awaiting the the Rooted Rom. I don't know if anyone can answer this: How do you take the cover off the Next7p12 with AMLogic chip and no pinhole? Someone in another post mentioned a screw where the micro sd card goes in but there isn't one there. In fact, I can't find a screw anywhere! I know some devices "clip" the covers into place and you have to pry them apart but I am hesitant to do this untill I get a little more info. Does anyone know how this cover is removed?
Why remove it? I had a friend who had a PanDigital Novel Tablet with SD card slot. When you took the cover off the internal storage was a micro sd card that was removal. I am hoping it is the same way with the Nextbook 7. I want to see if I can upgrade the internal storage with a larger storage card. Am I making sense?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks a lot for letting us know about this.
EDIT: I'm in the process of updating my installed apps. The ones I downloaded with Amazon all fail with the following error:
X Application not installed
An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed.
It's a bit of a hassle, but the fix is to run App Installer, scan local disk, and look near the bottom of the list for the apk that was just downloaded (in /mnt/sdcard/onemobile_download). Select the apk file that failed to install, uninstall it, and install again using the same apk file. This time there shouldn't be a problem.
Don't uninstall before 1Mobile has downloaded your update, though, or you will have to download the file manually. And if it was a pay app, you might have to buy it again!Last edited by eegorr; 09 January 2013, 04:37.Nextbook Premium 8 SE (Next8P12) - * ROOTED * (Sold on ****)

use google play on the web first if it's an app you've never heard of to check parental ratings. I love 1mobile so far. Only thing is make sure to read perms on any apps that are free full versions (if you are so inclined to pirate. i try not to, but I don't judge) I happened to notice that cut the rope free full (as in not the real free, but pirated full) had some weird perms allowing it to send emails to your contact list without the user's knowledge?! no thanks. still no option to buy said app if I was so inclined either.
on another note, I dl'd netflix from 1mobile and it didn't run right either, but the one from xda to which a link was posted earlier in this thread appears to work so far. only thing is the screen res isn't quite right. it cuts off a little on the right and probably the top or bottom...like wide format vs regular (whatever that's called lol) Truly hope there is a Net FIX in our future from SOMEwhere.

ROM Manager app by Clockwork Mod
There are several apps I downloaded from 1Mobile that would not install . Two of them are newer versions of apps I had already installed from Amazon Appstore: Redbox and OpenTable. Older versions of both of these apps were installed and running fine - now the newer versions will not even install. Another app, Yelp!, would not install from Amazon Appstore and it still does not install - I'm not sure if it is the same version or not. I found the apk for the Bank of America app online somewhere but it would not install - the version I downloaded from 1Mobile would not install either. Previously, the PayPal app would not install, though I can't find this app on 1Mobile.
A couple of other apps I tried to install this morning also would not install: Root System Tool and Root Firewall Free. I still think the problem is permissions on system directories that are not set appropriately, thanks to the jerks at Nextbook.
Last night I found an app called ROM Manager (by Clockwork Mod) that does install and run fine. One of the choices from the main menu is "Fix Permissions", but I'm a little leary of just pushing a button without knowing what the result will be! Does anyone have any experience with this app? Do you know what permissions it will set? I'm going to try to get in touch with the developer to find out. I'd also like to know what permissions are actually changed so I can report that here.
There is also an app called ROM Toolbox Lite (by JRummy Apps). It installs and runs okay and has some possibly useful features like ROM backup but nothing to do with permissions.
Suggestions?Last edited by eegorr; 09 January 2013, 17:41.Nextbook Premium 8 SE (Next8P12) - * ROOTED * (Sold on ****)

Not sure if you have tried the aptoide market, it worked fine for me while my tab was working.. no errors at all.... try es file exploror, in the settings u can set it to root every file. i think u can undo it later if you want not sure..
In the superuser it should ask you if a file wants su permissions.. unless you turned it off.
Not sure if you want to try this or not.. back up all your .apk files on your sdcard .. then reset your device.. then reinstall your .apks.. you wont lose or you shouldnt lose root seeing as its in the system directory. you might have to reinstall it though.
And I believe you can also do a rom backup and restore with the clockwork mod !!!!!

UBIFS can BLOW ME!
Sheesh.... AMlogic needs to start using a standard file system that now support NAND flash memory easily!
Yaffs, Jiffs, Biffs, Ubiffs, etc, and all that arcane shit needs to go way of the dino's!
EXT4 if blocked correctly easily supports NAND memory... All this other OLD file system crap is just CRAP OLD SHIT!
It's funny... I got a PM tonight from a guy trying to make a Rockchip MK808 ROM and he said "When I make the new YAFFS file system it will not boot". I had to tell him he does not know what he is doing! This is NOT a phone old school ROM. Rockchip uses ETX4! I have not heard back from him yet but YAFFS... REALLY?
People coming from phones do not understand things have moved on to better linux (or Android) supported file systems!
YAFFS makes me LAFFS
UBIFS just pisses me off!
