Ok, are you tried this?

Download in your pc the Rom for mk808 original you want to flash, and open the program to flash it.

Disconnect all usb from the stick.
Push the reset button, maintain it pushed while you conect the usb cable to the otg, maintain it pushed for 4 or 5 seconds.
The pc must dong with a newer decice is attached. If it ask for the drivers install the ones who comes with the Rom.

The flash program Mus show found a rk device in flash mode or so.

Erase idb nand.

Flash the new rom.

Tell me if it fails in some of the steps.

Stop messing around with reboot to flash mode from the flash tool!

Use the reset button way and it should work. It always does.

That almost always works unless he flashed a loader from some ROM that was not even a RK3066 device. If he did, then he is screwed! Now he has to take the unit apart and do the NAND reset.

This is the MK808 but the principle is the same.

Hi all and to Finless,

New member here.
Try flashing my MK808, everything is ok with the driver and the rom flash tool found my device.
But when i try to Erase Nand (IDB)...it shows "Erase IDB fail"...have I missed anything?

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Hi Bob,

thank you (and all others) for taking some of your busy time to help out.

I haven't been messing around with anything, I believe I followed your instructions to the letter, including the reset button method when the others have failed. I do not know what kind of loader or whatever is in there, my unit is as it came to me from the seller, with the extra programs I installed, that's all. It does say "your TABLET will shut down" when powering off so maybe you are right about it having a ROM not even meant for the RK3066. My MK808 looks EXACTLY like the one used to demonstrate fake vs genuine MK808 in some other post and has the RK901 chip.

The reset button method takes me to a recovery screen but maybe I didn't do it just right?

I will give this another try, if it doesn't work I guess I will just leave it alone, I don't want to risk ruining the unit permanently.

OK, for more complete and visual information, I'm having the same issue as some guy here when it comes to getting it into flash mode:

When I tried the reset button method I was taken to that recovery screen with the image of the android being serviced...

One guy there, that seems to have a similar ROM to mine (but for the MK808b), suggests holding the reset button for very long, like 12 s (see post #16). I will give this a try too.

Just tested and won't work... it goes into the recovery screen. I must have held the reset button for 1 min... This problem might flood you guys soon as it seems the newest MK808 is shipping with this 4.2.2 ROM.

I just found an older version of the Netflix App that fixes my particular problem, but I will keep a look out around here regularly to see if others stumble on this problem and if a solution is found i sure would like a cleaner, faster ROM on my puppy.

And it's back to Arrested Development :-)

Are you guys sure you are on the reset button? e.g. you can feel it click. If the reset button is working then it should not boot to anything! Even if your not connected to a PC it should not boot.
It make me think your not really pressing the button or for some reason it is not working.

I suggest popping the covers off your stick and make sure.

Now that Bob mentioned it... I had to pop the cover on mine to press the reset properly.
I was even feeling it with the pin but still had to pop the cover to do it right. I thought about super glueing a toothpick to it but the cover pops open with a finger nail. Just be careful to not rip the antenna wire from the cover.

USB WebCam issues

Hi,
I have an original mk808B. All my USB devices are connected through USB Hub.
1) Mouse
2) Keyboard
3) USB Sound Card adapter (http://dx.com/p/usb-virtual-7-1-chan...-adapter-59077)
4) HP HD-3100 Webcam (UVC enabled)

When my WebCam connected there is no sound. I have to disconnect the WebCam and reboot in order get sound back.
I don't know whether the microphone works because I don't know how to test it without the sound.
The video works (I can see it when running IP Camera App)

Please advise how to resolve the sound issue.

clone the firmware from MK808

UPDATE March 24, 2013:

I have added the 1.7 ROM for the MK808B V1 Clone. Consider it a BETA TEST ROM for now. Remember I cannot test this so I do not know if wifi and BT will work!

All the other models MK808, MK808B, MK808B Sunvel Clone are working as desired.

Features and release notes for my 1.7 ROM:

This is an entirely new system. This is not much from the original MK808 ROM in this as fas as system goes.
Many features from my 1.6 ROM are of course in this along with new features.

BE SURE to check out the mouse wheel ZOOM function to enable google earth etc to zoom!!!!
Set it by going into settings>accessibility> and turn on mouse zoom!

1) New "auto hide" status bar! To enable this go into settings>Display and turn it on.
Now anytime you run an APP it will automatically hide the status bar. Please note, some badly written APPs
can leave you in a stuck condition that you cannot exit the APP. You will need you keyboard exit key.

2) While you in settings>display there is another feature to force the settings menu icon in the status bar.
It is 3 dots vertically. Now anytime you in a APP that has a settings capability, if you click that you get settings!

3) Lock screen is back friends! Now is settings>security you can
A) Disable the lock screen completely (default is slide)
b) Setup a pattern for lock screen
c) Setup a PIN for lock screen
d) Setup a password for lock screen

4) Sleep is back like a tablet!!!! Go into settings>display and you can turn on sleep!
Now understand how this works
a) If there is no wifi or ethernet connection the MK808 when it goes to sleep will power off.
b) If there is a connection, it will simple go into low power mode and turn the display off. Moving the mouse turns it back on again

5) I enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu. Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) New "grid" style launcher available as a choice of launchers.
Some people still want the Alternate launcher that comes with many TV sticks for EZ TV use.
I took this from the Neo X5 ROM as I liked it better than previous versions. This of course comes with the RK settings as well.
If you want to remove this just use ES File explorer and delete these files from /system/app
LauncherNEW.apk
AllApp.apk
RKSettings.apk
RKBasicsettings.apk
Now just reboot and all this will be gone.

7) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the device. Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix.

8) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as NOT a MK808 device! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old. Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot!

9) Rockchip just released a updated libstagefright.so to try and fix HW decoding issues in XBMC.
I have added this to the ROM but have not fully tested it yet.

10) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

11) RK Mirroring is enabled. I have yet to figure it out or how to use it but if we ever do, its there.
I think we need a client on our tablets to use it. Hopefully more info will come from WiMo about this.

12) Remote Control using RK Remote APP is now fully supported!
In the ROM kit is a RKRemoteControl.apk.
You install this on your phone or tablet and now it can remotely control your TV player!
Just put the APK on sdcard or something and install it on your Android phone, tablet, etc.
ENJOY this one! I had a HARD TIME getting it to work!

13) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

14) As always I added the Xbox XPAD.KO module is now injected on boot. This was by request! Enjoy!

15) I added Xbox360 keylayout to fix some games and camera spin with xbox 360 controller. Per this post here:

16) TUN.ko module is also added by request. (CIFS and MD4 are already in the latest kernel).
Be aware if you use another kernel other than whats in this ROM, you may have to manually insmod CIFS and MD4.
The files are in /system/lib/modules

I have a question for you. I purchased two MK808 from 2 different sellers in ****, one of MK808 is not working right now, I could not tell which MK808 I had, and which firmware I should use.
Plus, Do you have an application I can clone the firmware from the good MK808?

Camera app

I have some issue with camera app available in ROM.

Everytime I click to take picture, it closes and no picture taken.
It works well while capturing video with same app. Also, webcam in skype working well.

Recently I upgraded to ver 1.7 from 1.6. I have found this issue in both versions.
