I have confirmed the Netflix frame skipping thing which goes away while moving the mouse.

It took me a long time to see it myself! I had to find just the right area of a movie on Netflix to see the difference. It's not always noticeable.

Now.... I am going to try and see if I can solve it. It's an odd bug for sure.

While I noticed it right away, it is very subtle. Someone else described the video looking as if the actors drank to much coffee. It doesn't appear to be specific to Netflix but all video sources.

On Finless 1.4 and my MK908 stays 100% at 1008 MHZ (as reported by setcpu and cpu spy). Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Also, my wifi is constantly dropping :-(

I'm confident that the fine chaps here will be able to sort this all out by the time I receive mine.
Ordered on the 8th but don't believe it's shipped yet.

I'm still digging my MX1, but am excited to get quad core and slicker performance.

            OK so this is weird.....

The reason frame skipping stops when moving the mouse is that there is something deciding when HDMI frames should be redrawn on the screen! Moving the mouse causes the frames to be drawn ASAP and always.

However when not doing that the OS is deciding that Video is not driving to update frames every time and thus it's not the video skipping, it's that the frames are not being pumped out the HDMI port every time!

It seems they are trying to save processing time by some kind of software determination if a new frame should be output to HDMI or not. If they do not see much data change, they do not output a frame. Freakin weird man... seems like they are burning processing time just analyzing frame data to determine if a frame should be redrawn!

I think this is a Tablet thing effecting HDMI output or something around this area. It makes sense to me as a tablet is for sure used very differently.

Stay tuned.... I am making some ground on this but it in fact maybe the kernel causing it. And if so, this means only Tronsmart can fix it (because we have no sources).

Nice to know you´re finding new info out! I wonder if there could be a workaround.. like some sort of app that forces the hdmi to always refresh.. Yes, the frame skipping can be subtle but I seem to have an eye for that sort of thing and I can´t help but see it..

It is strange that my live wallpaper is liquid smooth while not moving the mouse or anything.. as well as most games I have tried.

Bob, when you explained how you solved 3D frame drop issue and pushed antutu score from 10k to 18k you mentioned why that was the issue. This has something to do with this problem. Interestingly, while on stock rom, I found one video player that has no stuttering! I already wrote about it. It is Super video player - floater. It seems, duo to the way it is done, even in full screen, this video player "float above". For some reason, now connecting to what you now wrote, all frames are outputed through HDTV.However, with your 1.4 ROM, even that player started stuttering once you resolved whatever problem you encountered while fixing 3D. Hopefully this gives you an idea. Just trying to help you help us

Had this videoplayer adds in the screen who force the redraw? If it is right then this enforce Bob theory.

No, its something to do with overlay... it's a floating window and most likely floats on top of other active apps in a full screen as well. It doesn't drop frames in Toronsmart stock rom. Whatever Bob changed in 1.4 rom to fix 3D drop frames made this player act like the others- started skipping frames. I guess some temporary fix would be to start some unobtrusive app in background while watching videos. Bob will figure it out, I bet on it!

Why are some reporting that the frame skipping is in the stock ROM too?

                        Maybe a different issue.

I am going to go back to stock ROM and see if I notice it. If it is not there, I think I know where to fix it.

What I tried in the stock rom was netflix specifically. It was most surely jerky video. I did not try the floating player another member has mentioned. But yes if somebody knows about some unobtrusive app that can force constant screen refresh, even as a side effect, I´d take it.

I´m very pleased with all other aspects of bob´s rom.

Frame skipping is on both ROMs on my mk908. The only player that plays videos smoothly is GPlayer - Super Video Player (Floating!) on stock rom. However, developer published today new version which I can't try now as I am not home so not 100% sure any more. But, try that player on stock rom and if there is no skipping comparing to other players then... that developer knows something we don't.

I just confirmed. Netflix skips on stock ROM too... same thing. Moving the mouse stops it from happening.

I almost want to go back and see if this exists on a MK808 4.1.1 and see if this issue has been here all along even on 3066 devices?

All of my 3066 players (11 of them) play netflix liquid smooth.. especially when they can get the bandwidth for actual HD. It is literally my basis for comparison to the mk908. I have one ug802 hooked up to a 1080p screen with 1080 kernel and it runs great. On the screen right next to it (the one with mk908) it´s choppy. I´ve had such good luck with the 3066 units and video playback.. and I am awfully picky. I am running a variety of firmwares on these devices - some finless and some stock with tweaks and root. Excellent results all around.

Some of the roms do the complete zoom to fullscreen for netflix and some keep the bottom bar visible but greyed out or however you want to phrase that. Ideally I try to find roms that can do that auto zooming/bar hiding thing.

Just for specifics, here are the RK3066 units I own:

                                Ug802 x4
                                Imito MX1 x1
                                MK808B x1
                                Sainsmart AK802-III x1
                                Timingpower RK3066 box x1
                                MT-Box RK3066 x3
