All of my triple A's are round, I think I would have noticed if they were flat.
Kidding of course, I am glad it was not something worse.
When I received my S95, I ask her where are the batteries. She said, "oh I have two here you can have, I only used them for about 5 minutes to test my radio" So I got out to the cave, started playing with the box, after about ten minutes the remote started to work sporadically. Finally pulled that batts and put the meter to them, dead, they were wasted. So I know how you feel.

One of these is the most handiest gadgets you could ever get yourself even if you do have a meter, remember meter's run on batteries also
Often come up for a buck or less, there is a Fancy LCD model if you think it will add, Less brain drain using this model
Cheers.

That looks like a nice gadget to own. Over here in Aus it would cost $10 at least (us $7.50).
Any other hints and tips for getting the most out of the r-box? I need to do some reading on kodi. I've installed zdmc instead...just got to figure out the thing now.
I had some minor stuttering on 720p soccer match I downloaded. I assume the bit rate was just too high.
Other than that, I like having the laser blue death ray blinding me each evening as I sit in my lounge.

Many of these remotes will work to just slightly under 2v(total of both batteries), though range may suffer. Not a problem in the cave, so I use them until they no longer work. Though they still may be used in a joule thief for other purposes, though admittedly not very practical in most situations.

If you don't want to open the box, you could cut a circle(slightly smaller that the power LED's case opening) out of electrical tape and stick it on. Of course, one can always were their shades.

Finally my box arrived (and I have another couple on back-order). I would like to know from a startoff point if there is a way to edit the launcher?
I have also ripped all the boatware after upgrade and it seems like quite a nice boxkind regards

Glad to learn it has arrived. In addition to ditching the bloat, you may also want to ditch the Bloati(Kodi) and go with some other Kodi variant.
I have not trie to edit the defaul launcher. I use the other installed launcher(@settings/home), Launcher3. It has the standard basic editing available. I you have users that prefer simplicity, they might like the Simple TV Launcher. It is overly simple, but good for users who are not Android or tech proficient, screencap below. I have not tried it on the R-Box yet.
Also, some may be interested in the remote control phone app, Wufong, lots of permissions with it though.
