@Magendanz: I'm working on my own Android TV rom for this device (personal use only), but ran into two little snags. I hope you can point me in the right direction.

1 - I can't seem to get the ATVRemoteService working. I have the apk in system/app/ATVRemoteService and the proper permissions are set. I can locate my GT1 with the app on my phone, but the service crashes on the box as soon as I enter the pairing code on my phone. Are additional files requires somewhere? You fixed this bug on 2017/02/22.

2 - I am spoofing a Mibox. ~ 10% of apps download / launch as the mobile variant despite being downloaded from the Leanback Play Store and launched from the Leanback Launcher(Facebook and Play Music are two good examples). The Leanback Play Store also incorrectly upgrades a few apps to mobile or tablet versions appose to the leanback version that is installed. You fixed this bug on 2017/02/26.

If you could shed some thought on what I could be doing wrong, that would be great.

Which version of the OEM firmware are you using as your foundation? Marshmallow or Nougat? That will determine the answer to your first question.

As for the second, you just need to ensure you've removed /system/etc/permissions/tablet_core_hardware.xml when you install tv_core_hardware.xml. If you have them both present, it will confuse the Play Store.

Remote Services: Sorry, I'm using Marshmallow.

Play Store - Perfect. Worked like a charm. Thank you.

Yes, the OpenGApps TVStock version is actually the client, not the service. I had to pull and re-sign AtvRemoteService from the Xiaomi Mi Box firmware to get it working (which has the ARM lib, unlike the Nexus Player). Just grab it from my TVStock ROM.

NOTICE: I've branched off a new topic for the Nougat releases of the TVStock Nexus ROM here: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...android-tv-7-1

At this point, Marshmallow development will be moved to the back burner and you should expect less frequent maintenance releases for the older OS.

(And yes, the Nougat releases do finally fix the S912 brightness bug. No workarounds needed.)

Did you get hold of one of these? I just noticed this is the system your using for 7.1. so, does it have widevine L1 ?

yes i have one and yes have L1, and no you cant do nothing with it if you are thinking in porting to other boxes L1.
You need the keys/locked bootloader to be burned without it forget it.

                    @superceleron

Yeah I know its not possible to port over was just interested if it was true as its only £35, would love to see this in an S912 device priced similar to GT1
Don't suppose you know of any do you ?

                    Edit:

Does casting work with it when converted to ATV ?

Well i still dont know if VS is going to rls the same for the 912 ones (m8s pro) like they did for the Ki Pro, that one started as L3 and now is L1.
I dint try casting in my internal ATV build, maybe Guest can try on is one, but i suspect that it wont work!

No, L1 didn't fix the Google Cast problem for me. However, I haven't dug into the logcat for it yet. We may be getting closer.

Hi everybody and Thanks Magendanz for your Work! I have a H96 pro + 3Gb/16G BOX. In every ROM I installed (I tried this ROM and 2 others from superceleron) , my Box detect only 2GB of RAM. With my stock Android 7.1.1 ROM i had 3GB of RAM. Did somebody have the same problem?

That's because the RAM configuration is set in the device tree, and this custom ROM is built on the standard GT1 (or Alfawise S92), which only has 2GB of RAM. The Nougat systems have a nice little feature where they can pack a dtb (device tree binary) for multiple configurations into a dedicated partition, and the bootloader will pick the appropriate one at runtime. So, for example the Nougat build for GT1 has 1GB, 2GB and 3GB versions of the dtb, so one ROM can work for them all. Marshmallow didn't have that.

Thank you for your explanations. I'll test your ATV 7 Rom

Will a Nexus remote pair with this rom?
