    Hello,

one step further: the A/V cable delivered with the device is damage!
Now I try another cable and get A/V out. But HDMI don't work furthermore, not at my TV or two different others... At my TV I try every display resolution in the android, that is possible, but no output, only "no signal"...

One or two times at my many many trey after startup to plug the HDMI parallel to the A/V into the box, I got a videoout at HDMI, but the system freez at that moment...

    Anyone any idea???

    BTW: "MBX .... (g18ref)"

    Greetings

Screenshots, details, board version, what box do you have ... etc.
Unfortunately I do not have mind reading skills. I would like to have these skills but ... I do not have them.

          --------------------------------------------------------------

This device really sucks me out...

It seems so, that it only doesn't work at my TV (WUXGA 1920 x 1080) .
At a monitor (1280 x 1024) with 720, at two HDready TV and another fullHD TV it works fine via HDMI....

I also try a HDMI-Splitter (v1.4)... I get a lighting InPut LED at the splitter until I connect the splitter-OutPut with my TV, then the InPut LED stops to light (output LED is lighting)...
(BTW: onetime at the beginning of my many trys with the spillter, I got a signal to my TV, but it wasn't reproducible???)

My notebook, SAT-receiver and a RK3188-box works with my TV...

Than I found out, at the toothpick method, there isn't any output via AV...
(opening the device and pressing the little switch)
Know I don't really know, whether a bootable SD-card (using DD or SDTools or the Matricom recovery SD respectively the merge by BenniBenassi-solution) is helpful, because I think it's a generally problem of the output-possibility of the recovery and I don't know, whether it is possible to use a choice with the knowing recovery.img like here http://forum.androidgadget.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=130

I found any way out, how to root the existing installed android...
          Perhaps

BUT without any output, so I can forget it...

And don't found any exploit like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2130276 ...

I want to root it, because of the possibility to use
          - dmesg
          - cat log (whichever)
          :

And last but not least, the "cat /proc/mtd" output I found at my device don't compare to the standard output flying around in the I-Net, so I don't really sure that I can reflash my box with the g-box MX2 FW...
I thinking about it, perhaps it isn't a HW problem/incompatibility with my TV, because it seems so the actually installed FW have some bugs (because in Settings for example, if I move trough the sections, the background colure sometimes still is blue and not grey when I leave that point... on the other hand perhaps it's "normal")

                  Hi,

Anyone had issues with selecting options in CWM Recovery mode? I have one...
                  I have got a G18REF (HD18 V2.22) box like this: http://goo.gl/7KDT39
Installed Matricom Midnight G-BOX MX2 v1.1.5+ according to BenniBenassi's guide and booted from the CWM (cwmbydaemonium.zip) to enter recovery mode.

Everything seems fine except i can't select options because i have no physical power button. Can loop through the menu with the switch in A/V port but thats all. I have a remote which comes with the device and only the power button works in CWM recovery. It shuts down the device. The remote works well in other (stock and other rooted) ROM's recovery menu.

Any advice appreciated i have no idea what to try.
                  Thank you in advance,
                  agaspar

Thank you for the info! I already tried with one USB keyboard but with no success. Maybe it is not compatible with it OOB.

                            Now I have so...

                            Download these two files:

                            FILE: mx2-boot-recovery.zip

                            FILE: mx2fw114b-7-10-13.zip

I used this simple method, no HW bypass required, no hacking needed....

                            1) Update recovery image (extract files on SD card:mx2-boot-recovery.zip)
                            - First back up all apps that you want saved by Titanium backup, to EXTERNAL storage.
                            - Power off MX device and then remove power cable.
                            - Insert SD card with extracted files in root directory.
                            - Insert a match or a toothpick to reset hole - you will feel a click. (AV hole in the back)
                            - Power on the MX box by inserting power cable, while holding the match in the reset hole.
                            - It will boot to recovery. Good. Then remove power cable and remove SD card.

                            2) Install Matricom image (extract on SD card: mx2fw114b-7-10-13.zip)
                            - Extract files from zip file to the root of SD card.
                            - Make sure MX device is powered off and power cable removed.
                            - Insert SD card with extracted files in root directory.
                            - Insert a match or a toothpick to reset hole - you will feel a click. (AV hole in the back)
                            - Power on the MX box by inserting power cable, while holding the match in the reset hole.
                            - It will boot to recovery and start installing ROM. Good. It will restart when finished.

                            The end.

But still, I like AndroidGadget image better than Matricom.

Meanwhile, I also fooled around building a CWM for MX box. Even though the CWM builder successfully finished the CWM image, booting this bricked my device so badly I had to use the DD soft method to unbrick. Black screen and blue light. Now it works again though...
                            Hi there
I have recently done the procedure above which went successfully. I have tried all of the droidtv firmwares but this seems to be the best.
As I see, it looks like my mx clone (R18ref) is now an mx2 gbox? It is on the 1.1.4b firmware which isn't the latest. Can I download the 1.1.5 from their website and reflash from the upgrade option within the launcher?
                            cheers

Hello Peeps. I know this is off topic, however, can someone advise what is the best remote combination keyboard/mouse to use with the G18REF box before and after the firmware update ? Thanks in advance.
