I have the model with sec701, cant seem to flash anything on it anymore. It bricked itself after the latest ota 20170919.150557 was installed. I managed to get it to show over usb by shorting pins 14-15. Cant seem to finish a flash successfully, getting this error "uboot/partition logo/verify partition/error result". I even tried my restoring the 0829 and its failing on same spot...

I found it as a comment in this video

Here is the thread that discusses this - http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showt...ost&p=63415661
Open in Google Chrome and use the 'translate' feature
Have come across several references that have validated it works.
Here is the origin - http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showt...ost&p=63158281
Note however that this is for the PRO 3GB/32GB - the S912 box.
This freezing issues being discussed also predates the current issue with the most recent Pro+ boxes
=> I don't believe is applicable to this box (Pro +)

My suggestion is not to buy any MECOOL devices at all.
Spec and price may look tempting, but if software is bad (in addition to HW issues), the box is useless still.
I have additional Mi Box from Xiaomi and it works like a charm out of the box.

It was updated on M8S_PRO + -ota-20170919.150557.V0619 (box on amlogix s905x 2 / 16Gb M8s pro + Flash SEC 652)
From the card microsd did not want to update, inserted through the card reader into the usb port and updated via the application UPDATER
In the section about the device: M8S PRO + userdebug7.1.1 NHG47L 20170919.150557.V0619
Interface like without lags. Working HDMI-cec with LG, but as with all the boxes is not complete, the prefix only knows how to go to sleep with the TV turning off the remote control.
There was a Google Cast item in the Android shutter, but it does not work) The device is displayed as M8S PRO + but it does not translate to it. Checked and in the settings of the android and through third-party software localcast, the connection is not established. With relatives in boxing air, miracast works.
Removed HDMI selfadaptation (which by the way did not work). the framerate does not work

So, these eMMC chipsets include both the NAND flash storage and the eMMC controller on the same die. One of the features introduced in the eMMC 5.0 controllers is a Field Firmware Update (FFU). My guess is that an FFU could be used to correct the problem with this defective lot. If I were gearbest, that's what I'd be asking the factory for.

WARNING: There's is a possible bad batch of M8S Pro+ boxes which are experiencing regular freezing and crashes. We've narrowed the source of the problem down to a Samsung eMMC 5.1 chipset (KLMAG1JENB - B041), batches SEC 701 to 713, and these usually shipped from the factory with version 20170829.121614.V0321 of the OEM firmware. If you have one of these, it's highly recommended that you not flash any ROM (custom or OEM), as the prolonged block writes seem to result in serious data corruption.
