While I'm waiting for mine to arrive, am I right in thinking these boxes don't have any ventilation holes in the top cover? It doesn't look like it.

If so, no wonder they are getting hot. Think I'll take a drill to mine before it gets a chance to fry itself!

The biggest problem with these boxes isn't that they don't have vent holes, but that they are made of plastic.

Take the Beelink M18, which doesn't have a single hole in the case but is made of metal, and it never runs any hotter than 65°C.

Every other plastic box I have received since runs around 80°C

The Beelink M18 has a small heat sink and also a rubber pad at the underside of the PCB that connects it to the bottom plate, which again doesn't have any holes or vents.

Remove the bottom plate and temperature will increase with about 10°C.

So it runs cool because it uses the whole casing as one big heat sink

R-TV Box S10 has aluminum body and is also known to get hot .
I think a metal body costs a lot more than you think.
To have a metal body, I think they have to punch press them.
Punch press dies, plus the material and labor cost a lot more than molded plastic.
I think they just need to have larger heat sinks and more vents .

Please someone can backup and share Miracast APK (from official stock firmware)?

For example using the app backup function of ES File Explorer or APK Extractor.

I would do by myself but I can't update to stock firmware because I'm already on the Magendanz one.

Good idea, I will try to flash M8S_PRO_L-ota-20170918.11155 7.V0619-fixed.zip via TWRP and then update to M8S_PRO_L-ota-20171127.165619.V0928 via stock updater.

Will you release your version of this update? As i see most of us prefer that.

I'm not sure, since the new update breaks the navigation bar. Perhaps I'll just update the TVStock variant, which doesn't use it.

For new users of this box would be great to have a small youtube clip of each rom (stock variant of Android 7.1 and Android TV 7.1)

Nothing speciel, only to give a short idea how each rom looks like. Do you think, you can make it Guest or any other user?

Given that I create custom ROMs for about a dozen devices now, I don't think YouTube clips are going to happen. There's just not enough time in the day, and I have a regular job (and family) too.

you dont understand me, i will get my box soon, i don´t have it yet. and to decide which rom from Guest i install,. would like to have a short look on a video clip - berfore i install each one. That´s it.

And i imagine, many other users would like to have this information, before they start to install.

but i cannot find a clip about the other magendanz rom stock Android 7.1 (not TV) which i would prefer.

I use the ATV Roms now as with Aptoide, and TVApp Repo, I find them better than the Phone interface.
The apps that don't work for me in ATV mode also fail in Nano so !!

If you're in a tropical area a Fan or Laptop cooler underneath is the go if heat is a Big problem,
Often with Factory Rom, Junk in the trunk running in the Background is the Killer.
Or Kodi with lots of Addons (can be Evil)

I can't find any reports about the M8S Pro over heating, maybe I missed them?

But why this box runs hot and the Pro not? Same processor - same casing and as far as i can notice from the pictures, same heat sink.
