i have the same one just the model with previous remote, is mine the same besides the voice remote, and is it store google certified as there is an app in south africa we use and i cant find it on the store

Hi Magendanz

Im new to here and new to ATV and patching etc.
i have just successfully installed both versions of your Firmware and its really nice, however im very noob when it comes to rooted devices etc.
So the Firmware i had before was not rooted and worked fine, but i was curious to try yours too
the problem now is that i cannot run one of the local in country TV apps to stream my subscription as that app looks for rooted devices, and therfore will now not allow me to stream any content.
I tried to install SuperSU but it wont run and says its "busy"
could you explain to me how to unroot this firmware ? or steer me to a post that explains this.
I thank you for your work and time and effort.

I have tried to go back to the previous Firmware i had, but it will now not allow the downgrade and says the file is for a M8S_Pro_L and my device is not a q20x or something along those lines.
The file i tried to revert to is "M8S_PRO_L-ota-20171208.110230.V0928.zip" which was working fine with my local app.

Would be great if i can unroot this device now.

I was able to extract the contents of the ZIP file mentioned above, i then updated the install script file to point at q20x and it was able to restore that Image....Yay!
So im back on the ATV version which is not rooted and have full access to all my apps again.

I got this box 3-4 days now, tried several roms and i decided to stay in this one, cause i dont like very much the atv versions. The box seems to work ok but compared to m8s pro ( i also have it with the magendaz nano nexus rom) , i have to mention some things.
First i can tell that this box is not so smooth like the m8s pro. The UX is lower and you can feel it. Takes some more time to open an app and to swipe between the screens, e.t.c
2nd. Not so strong and fast wifi, like the pro
3rd. It s hot. I dont know if this cause some problems but two nights i let lt on, the tv was off, and in the morning the box was freezed and i had to unplug it in order to work again. The first night it was playing a movie and the second i turned off the tv while the box starting the geekbench
4th. While playing some 4k videos from a usb stick, some of them losing some frames. Noticable
5th. There is a difference of ~11k points in antutu v7 between the two boxes (44k vs 55k).
Playstore says that antutu maybe it s not optimized for m8s L but i run it several times and i noticed that there are some 3d scenes in the beggining of antutu, that play on m8s pro but not in L. Thats why the score difference, but i thing that both boxes have the same gpu. L missing drivers?
i believed that the only difference between the 2 boxes was the ddr4 ram vs ddr3 but now i see that maby this model uses differend (cheaper) kind of parts.
I dont believe it s only matters of this firmware. I believe it s a good one (thanx Magendaz)

Coclusion: no serius problems and good price for someone that needs 4k youtube and fhd netflix

P.s. i hope very soon to have an update of this rom

BTW, that new Mali driver with OpenGL 3.2 support improved the Antutu score from 44828 to 51208.

Thanx Mag. That was the problem then.
Do we need to setup the box again after the ota update?

Edit:
Updated went good, downloaded and tried to run antutu several times but never had a success.
sometimes the app crashed, some other times it freezed.

Should i install the ota update again?

I had that same problem with Antutu crashing, but it worked when I ran it on a clean Nano install. I think that the 3D performance test is so resource intensive that running anything else will cause it to fail.

The Kernel Version is 3.14.29, is that correct? (with a date there of 5.2.2018)

The kernel version and security patch level will be the same as the underlying OEM firmware (20180205.111652.V0928).
