If yours was manufactured in May, I am surprised you don't have the later April 12th build date. Did you flash the ROM from the OP in this thread? Is everything working correctly on your tablet?ShaunMT

Thanks for confirming. I am starting to think the two revisions are completely compatible. I think the various issues reported are just cases of bad flashes.

first i rooted my tablet with the root you provided then i noticed yhe tanlet did factory resets every day aftee i rooted it so i then i flashed the stock rom and it was ok until i noticed some previously compatible apps arent compatible anymore then i tried to change the fingerprint of the build.prop so i matched yours but apps arent compatible anyways.

Have you tried going into settings and manage apps and clearing data and cache for the play store app?

Yes I tried Th3rdborns solution and tried replacing my build.prop with his but still doesn't work

There is an app on Google Play that I want....but it tells me that my tablet (NX008HD8G) isn't compatible. Will rooting change this? A friend of mine has a tablet that he paid a lot for ....but it is also Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and this app downloaded for him.

The app I want is the WKYC Radar app.

Rooting alone is not the answer. It also requires changing the fingerprint in the build.prop file to a different tablet with better app support. This means manually editing the file, using an app from the play store to switch the device fingerprint for you, or installing a custom ROM that already has a modified fingerprint.

Your mileage may vary with any of the above methods.

It seems the biggest change is the alsa sound support. I found using romdump is the easy way to backup. Copy romdump to /data/local, make it executable and run from terminal. Download --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28052258/romdump

I am using candy crush daily, subway surfer just downloaded and plays. nx008hd8g no problem. I have the april manufacture date.

Unseeingdog, Rabid1 posted a version in post#10. I don't know if it is a mod of ShaunMT's rom or if it is from his own nx008hd8g. Rabid1 said his build is the same date as mine. You could try flashing it and see if that build works to access those apps.

How is that working out?

I'm trying to decide what fingerprint to use in my custom ROMs.

I would think a tablet fingerprint would work better? Maybe one of the 7 or 8 inch Galaxy Tab fingerprints?
