    it will be possible to make a port ROM this box to others same SOC, for example Mecool M8S Pro Plus?

      No, you can't port AndroidTV firmware with locked bootloaders.
      But I'll only know for sure about all the bugs or limitations when I get mine in 3 weeks.

    Just received email advising me that my Mecool KM8 has shipped. A couple of weeks ago, I was advised that they would not start shipping until after August 3. Used free shipping, so will see how long it takes to arrive at my mailbox.

        Yeah, and I have to wait for mine. , Looking forward to your review and impression. Hope it shows HDCP 2.x, at least.

          Let,s get into this...

          At present Netflix does not work with the version you download from the Google ATV PlayStore device not compatible when app is run weird.
          But the Non ATV version will load and run but the max is 480 at this stage, like all things new, may take a while.

          Amazon Prime did work so that will please some.
          Voice remote also working well like it so far, A8 ATV its ok I am finding,
          Also I find Sideload launcher by chainfire, fo all ATV and non ATV type Apps to reside and run if required

          Mentioned in a previous post about 4k Netflix Later maybe true
          Just a quick look to start

            Depressing, HDCP 1.x only. If my box had not shipped already, I would cancel my order. Not worth the $60 I paid for it. Now, is it really Google certified???

              Some interesting things to check perhaps?

              Can someone check if it's possible to root, probably not possible.
              DRM Info screenshot
              In Google ATV Store, check about for Google Certified info.
              Run Safetynet Checker apps and check if Safetynet Basic Integrity and CTS tests pass.
              Build.prop dump, to check firmware info.
              Is menu navigation fast or lags because of video thumbnails like on other AndroidTV Oreo devices?
              Possible to put more than 6 apps at the top?
              Volume changing working correctly and displayed on screen?
              Power off working, restart or sleep option somewhere or when long pressing the power button?
              Recent apps menu showing or missing?
              Sideloaded apps running correctly and not in portrait mode?
              Possible to boot from a microsd card eg. LibreELEC(maybe not available yet)?
              Locked bootloader or can flash other firmware?
              Netflix HD apk from xda forums showing HD or have problems to run?
              NTFS and exfat drives supported?
              Possible to change the launcher?
              Google Cast working?
              Any special shortcuts available eg. long press or double press home, recent or back button?
              Kodi 18 playback - auto frame-rate switching(remember to select the whitelist resolutions), colorspace switching and HD audio working correctly?
              I think Kodi will have some problems, will be great if everything works.

              It all depends if Mecool release ota updates and HDCP 2.2 support(maybe not possible after leaving the factory?) for 4K Netflix and Amazon Prime Video I think, to make it a success.
              If the tv box is just left as it is, then it is a bit of false advertising since AndroidTV has to have 4K video support, full Kodi support and be Google Certified otherwise it's a lot worse than normal Android.
              I think RK3328 AndroidTV might be better value for money, better hardware USB3, 4x USB ports, Gigabit ethernet, DDR4 RAM etc. but Rockchip has to get the software support right, otherwise everyone is in the same boat with half working AndroidTV. Heard RK will concentrate more on AndroidTV Nougat instead of Oreo.

                Then it seems to be a decent device for the price.
                Hope the small bugs will be fixed later.
                Still have to wait about 2 weeks before I get it, but want to test it now
                Will get a RK AndroidTV device hopefully also in a few weeks then I have 2 devices to compare.

                Only been in the house for about 6 or so hours so lots more to fiddle and find...and not to bad for a first attempt
                Not easy in there part of the world to test everything so hiccups qwerks to be expected,
                Can only get better we hope.

                  So far so Good, netflix is the only thing that is not 100% but we have many devices so it's all good..
                  Box easy to set up, WiFi and ethernet ok for what they are.
                  Connection to Google update and installed testers OK, Aptoide is you fried if Google wont,

                  Being A8 ATV simple UI works ok like all things get used to it...

                  Remote does work Well, Google cast also, so cant go wrong I feel. use it for what it is and not what you want it to be, its a 905x, 2/16gb and works

                  Ok some Benchmarks etc

                  Ethernet


                  Sd Card test


                  Ram and Storage Truth



                  CPU-Z

                    Ah, Trebor, again YOU MADE my day. Glad it has HDCP 2.2 and Google Cast supported. It makes sense, that it will only show HDCP 2.2 until it is connected to a 4K TV. Now I am excited again. Nice to have Netflix in 4k, even though I would never use that function. Those are the only two functions I was expecting.
