auto frame rate match the correct frame per second for video content on your tv. If you go to advanced settings, you should see playback settings and you must turn it on the option.
Not every app support AFR on android. You can test AFR with Kodi, SPMC, Archos video player, Perfect Player or Plex. But don't forget to turn on the option for AFR even in every single app in the settings.
If it works, when you watch a movie trough kodi, for example, if you check your tv, you must see 24hz into the info.
Hope you understand what i'm saying, i learned my english playing online on the playstation

It may be due to the Android TV version.

The first Android TV Oreo released for the Mi Box also came with that flaw.

Did you try to switch the hdmi cable? If your receiver support HDCP 2.2 there is no reason why it doesn't work...
            Thanks.
I just installed LibreELEC by using a microSD card and it is working great, but the stock IR/BlueTooth remote is not recognized. I just grabbed a device tree for S905x, renamed it to " dtb.img" and copied it to the root of the microSD card that I had just burned using Rufus.

Now, my HD audio works under LibreELEC. Really easy to setup and dual boot.

Edit; The stock remote works great with Wrxtasy's remote config. Just download it and copy it into the "Configfiles" folder on your LibreELEC using Windows explorer. Walla, your stock IR/Bluetooth remote works with LibreELEC, BUT only the IR portion of your remote works.

What can you play under Librelec besides Kodi ?

LibreELEC is just enough to Run KODI...that's all it does and you go from there..

any news about a fix for Netflix on this box?

                      Comment

Maximum resolution is 4K@30Hz? Shouldn't it be 4K@60Hz since it is a s905X based?
As of now, Netflix is not supported but Amazon Video is ok?

YouTube plays 4K@60Hz, but a lot of dropped frames.

                            Got the device:

                            Some negatives:
Netflix doesn't work, shows an error.
Amazon Prime Video not available in the Google Play Store.
External hard drives, NTFS, Exfat not detected, so it's a pain to sideload apps.
The volume dialog is just a big white block, it seems the text and icons doesn't show or are 99% transparent.
Several Android tablet apps sideloaded, run upside down, sideways.
                            No recent apps menu.
The back button on airmouses doesn't go back.
Uses slow Foresee emmc, half the life-span of Samsung storage.
Can't click with an airmouse on the onscreen keyboard, but it is fixed if you install Leankey keyboard.

                            Video playback:
Auto frame-rate switching is completely broken in Kodi 18, big disappointment.
The frame-rate switching settings in the Settings menu seem to do nothing, same as on a Mi box.
I didn't know this but but the S905X chipset can't play 10-bit H264 video, something Rockchip RK3229, RK3328 devices seem to do for a while now.
VC-1 videos seem to play with a lot of background noise and not smoothly compared to RK3229, RK3328 devices.
Interlaced mpeg2 videos also seem to play poorly, probably because of no Mediacodec support and need AMLCodec support which is only available in SPMC that is discontinued.
4K@50/60hz videos have dropped frames, also a problem on Rockchip devices on Android.
Some videos with dts audio also had no audio playing in the built-in video player and Kodi, have to test this more.

Will have to test SPMC or LibreELEC later to see if I can get HDR working.

                            Positives:
Sideloaded Amazon Prime Video plays in 1080p and in good quality.
Device is Google Certified, so some streaming apps can work that check these things.
Can also boot LibreELEC, so hope this will be a solution for smooth video playback in future.
                            Cheap price

Now Videostrong just have to fix these bugs.

Yep about the same for most of these Units, today, take the good with the bad and hope they fix it all soon,
Not sure why they persist in using slower eMMC,
NTFS/Exfat is just about all A8 at present
Apps running wrong sideways etc, must have rushed this one out so many B/S quirks,

Here is hoping soon but no breath holding

More sad news it's 5 bucks cheaper for the next few days with coupon GBKM8 just in case you need of want a second one
