So basicly Alvatech's patched img is (MAGISK patched) TWRP recovery img, right?

So then I could take this image and use it es recover img and repack...

Man I was just trying to provide a way for everyone to have magisk. I didnt expect questions on a different topic about how to pre root roms. Incidentally what software are you using to unpack and repack roms? I thought none of those softwares work good? the repacks dont flash to bootable androids?

You must delete all original ROOT(old ChinaRoot or SuperSU) files from stock/custom ROM if you want your Magisk.recovery.img to work inside a ROM.img that you personally customize.

This is Why the method romcrazy works, it is because of the Step to UNROOT device while device is running inside TWRP mounted SDcard.

romcrazy this method you detailed would be good in a "Knowledge&Tutirial" post.... if you could simplify it, don't explain why it works or how it works, just do a write up like "Add Magisk to S905X2" use this "File" do these steps "1..2..3..4..5" -- make as simple as possible so it doesn't get lost in translation, because for a lot of users of FreakTab -English is not primary language.

Thats not completely true. In my first ever trial, I was so dying to try this, I forgot to remove root. I ended up with 2 root apps in my app drawer. On the first magisk manager run, it asked permission of supersu. After I granted permit, magisk took over the superuser. It was okay but not clean. I still had 2 supersu apps, so i decide to remove supersu. I tried to unroot with supersu app itself, from its settings. That didnt work. I then went into twrp and flashed supersu remover zip. And it got stuck on boot screen. In second trial, after ending up with 2 supersu apps, I went to twrp and flashed magisk hoping to remove supersu. Again got stuck on boot screen. So in third trial, I unrooted before flashing magisk patched recovery zip.

But your first point stands perfectly. Soldiaz will need to unroot the stock rom before using this twrp img to get pre magisk rom.

I could do that, I was trying to explain how it works because I was expecting questions like soldiaz asked. To be honest, I would prefer if someone actually pondered what modification has alvatech done to his recovery, that the box boots into system on using reboot recovery. I very much want to know, but I dont think alvatech will divulge his trade tricks. So if someone can actually decompile the recovery img and compare it with usual 3.3.1 twrp. that might give us some clue, we could modify every recovery thus and give the users the option to make their own recovery instead of using a recovery zip that is meant for s922x box.

And in hindsight, soldiaz no your method might not work. Its not just a matter of replacing the recovery img. First, alvatech's zip fixes some permissions, which is seen on screen while flashing his zip. You might need to add some script that fixes those permissions.

It would be better, if you seek alvatech's help.

For sure you will be using only one. If you are okay with having 2 su apps thats your wish. If you go about removing supersu with root uninstaller or whatever, thats upto you. I gave you a way to add root to your box. How you go about experimenting with it is upto you. God gave you hands to hold things, what you hold with it is upto you.

i currently updated the device with following firmware aml_s905x2_9.0_H96Max_X2_mac_wifi_20190920 from firmware u214.H96Max_X2_4G_100M_9.0.2019.09.11.14.29.

In general settings there ii missing now any option for HDR settings as was under the firmware u214.H96Max_X2_4G_100M_9.0.2019.09.11.14.29. In the settings - device preferences - display there is only option for color depth settings an color spare settings.

Can you give me any advice.

Honestly I have never ever used sideloading. I never needed it. You can try.

Never use the YouTube app that come inside TVbox, always install Smart.YouTube, Vanced.YouTube, or NewPipe. If you already did then make sure you have updated which ever alternative YouTube apk that suits your preferences.
