Yeah thats the problem he is having, he cannot use the reset button to turn the tablet off, and when he tries to install the drivers he just get an error 10 message in windows, Im convinced this is becasue the drivers have not installed properly. I mean if the tablet can boot to stock recovery then it should def be detected properly by windows when the rockchip drivers are installed.

Yes, that's very odd. It has to be Window drivers.

Thanks for giving me hope. I will uninstall drivers and install again when tablet has died and charge up again.

I will let you know how I get on.

Don't let the battery run all the way down to zero. It may not take a charge again...ever.

Ok now when connecting the tablet I get Android under other devices show up in device manager. I click on update driver. I select to choose drivers myself. But when i select the right path. I'm running 32bit Win7. (86x folder) it says no drivers cannot be found. If I select devices and "have disk" I can select the appropriate device 'rockusb' and it is when the software is installed come back with device cannot start.

Are there any other/older version of the drivers that try?

Yes that's the last official release. This ROM is based on a test firmware not yet published.

Changing the bootanimation isn't difficult...there are apps available...or simply use a rooted explorer tool and browse to system/media. The replacement needs 755 permissions.

I think you are right about the drivers. When I connect the tablet to the pc it shows up as Android in Unknown devices. I think the message from the tablet to the pc is not recognizing the device as rockusb, therefore not installing.

Look in build.prop. you might be able to change it back to rockusb.

Sorry...my bad...you need the ROM to be rooted to do it.

With that in mind got the fix. Waited overnight to power DOWN the battery. Meanwhile I installed the correct drivers manually so that when the device was powered up it would show as rockusb in device manager and not Android as what was happening before. I had the pipo flash tool ready with official firmware ready. Plugged in power on tablet, usb connected to pc. Pressed volume + and power and device manager picked up rockusb, flash tool showed device was connected and I hit upgrade and bingo.

Now which riley Rom is deemed to be the most stable?
