Ok here goes - I got the drivers working again. with the same PC.

I managed to get into recovery reboot. (little android man with red triangle)

I selected factory reset and reboot.

It seems as if it is stuck in booting up (rileyrom badge showing). All of a sudden in device manager device wont start (code 10 error).

I cant power off, reboot into recovery or anything. will have to wait for battery to go flat?

    any other suggestions?

The second u got the drivers working u should have flashed it. Just do the same thing again, gett the drivers working and have the flash tool rdy, I would suggest using the alternative 1.7 batch tool to flash it.

What Rom would you say is the most stable. I certainly do not want to use 1.8a?

I think the 1.7 is th currently the best ROM, with the v4 OC kernel and crossbreader has added 2000 to my antutu score and overall feels a lot faster, so did u get it going then ?

Not yet still waiting for the battery to discharge as nothing else works until then. What is v4 OC kernal and crossbreader? How do I install? apart from it being faster what are the other benefits?

              The morning after

Finally got the drivers loaded. tried vol + and power to enter flash mode. Device appeared in Device Manager. I already had flash tool open and it said that No Andriod device found, so I couldn't flash. Andriod man with red triangle for about 5 mins. tried reboot to recovery (didn't work) then i get the riley rom badge (stuck again now until discharge)

If you've got the gut to open your tablet you can enter maskrom mode manually by connecting pin 8 & 9 of the nandchip (the one closer to the battery) u'll find a dot mark on the left side start counting from that.
Open RK flashtool or romflashtool (flash tool on riley rom)

connect your device using usb 2.0 and connect pin 8&9 using a needle or something -

power on the tablet (while keeping the 2 pins connected)

Walla.... you've enter maskrom mode... the flashtool will indicate maskrom mode

Erase IDB, reboot to flash and flash manually by using the second tab where you'll need to select kernel, parameter, etc. mannually)

BTW ever try reseting by the reset button in the back.

When you hold volume up for 3 secs then press the power button for 3 secs and then connect to the PC and device manager shows an unknown device, that's when you have to install the USB rock chip drivers for you particular OS. Like i said before you are better off downloading the 1.6 rileyrom as the driver folders are clearly named, 32-64bit etc. If you try that and you really can't get the drivers to install for the tablet to b detected then you really don't have any choice but to open it up and try the method above.

A question - I have managed to enter recovery mode. where i get options to wipe data cache/ factory reset/ install rkiimage from external sd card. However the PC and tablet does not connect at that point.

Can I flash tablet with an external sd card from there?

Thanks so much Riley!! Your ROM work has given me hope for this Tablet.

I've installed 1.8a and it seems to be working much better than the original stock ROM I had from when I bought it.

I've noticed there's a new file on the firmware page labeled 'M6pro_OTA_software_20131015'.

Is this usable for our machines, as I noticed the date for this firmware is the same date as another "M6pro... download"

                          Thanks again for your work!

I never did a ROM with that particular firmware because within a few days, Pipo released another update before I had a chance to do so.

Yes, it would be suitable...but it would just be stock...not rooted.

While my 1.3a firmware is nice, there are still some problems with freezes and wifi not turning on automatically at boot...so I'm hoping for a fix to those problems. Meantime, Finless and I are exploring some remedies to the problems we can try. That's still in progress, though. I'll tell everyone later what we've come up with.

No, you can only do that with CWM recovery as the 3E recovery that comes as stock only allows signed firmware to be installed, thats why you are always better off installing CWM recovery. It does seem weird that you can get into recovery but your getting a tablet wont start error message. Not sure what else to suggest , apart from uninstalling the tablet from your PC completely and starting again(volume + and power then connect) but I know you cannot reset it to get the tablet in OFF mode so not sure how you are going to get it to work. I have done it before by just conneting the usb first without even pressing volume + and power. And somehow got the drivers installed and the tablet dectected, took alot of messing around and bit of luck but once the tablet is detected as rockchip device then you just hit flash before something goes wrong lol

Find a paper clip and press the reset button to power down the tablet. Then use these instructions to manually get into flash Mode:

M6(android4.2.2):press the “ volume +“ key for a few seconds, at the same time press “power”, release” Volume + “ until the tool finds out your tablet.
