    Dears,

Yes, I have experienced freezes (3 in a row) therefore I have decided come back to stock fw.
However I have some points here:
    1. If I remember OK, 1.2 ROM was released after message that Pipo released ROM dated 28 Sep. Looks that they have removed this ROM afterwards. I did not find stock ROM with this date only dated just from 13 or 14 of Sep on their site. Why older relaease was removed? Because issues?
    2. I had impression that Riley's ROM started to work worse at me sfter week of use. I have used some additional apps which could probably had influence like Cleanmaster, advanced system care, android application launcher APEX. Some times excessive cleaning can remove also some important files from Rooted Rom - I guess.
    3. In Overall Riley's ROM in beginning worked fast and smoothly. Looks some degrades happened, later I do not think this is a developer who created issue...Maybe better to return to ROM 1.1 based on available stock ROM?

By the way I am travelling now in Germany with PIPO and have hotel with poor wifi - you can imagine that stock FW was frozen, too, just because Internet failure while some site was loading in browser...

When you get back home...or to a decent wifi location, you might try flashing my 1.1 version and see if it helps.

Be sure to erase IDB (NAND)...maybe even twice...to be sure you don't have parts of the previous ROM left over.

The problem may be with this last firmware that Pipo released.

Randy, as far as I know 1.2 and 1.1 are based on the same Pipo ROM version (dated september 13rd for the 3G version):
1.1 is based on a FW I send you before it was officially released
1.2 is based on the FW officially released.

So I suppose 1.1 and 1.2 are almost identical. Isn't it?

They are close. I think in 1.2 I added the ko files for VPN support.

Insert the SIM card with the tablet switched off.

After switching on, on the control panel go on "more.." and on "mobile networks" and enable:
                      "modem power"
                      "data enabled"

                      Now it should work.

Do you see the 3G bars near the clock on top right of the tablet?
                      If yes, that's all.

If it doesn't work, try to put a piece of paper on the back of the SIM. This could help electrical contacts.

I'm off to London tonight and will test the gps using my sim to get updates on google earth navigation, i'll report back tomorrow.

Hi, I would love to try your ROM but before I do I would like to make sure that if something goes wrong I can go back to my stock ROM.

What should I use to back up my stock ROM?

                          Thanks

I was trying to mount RileyROM 1.2 system.img using various methods and failed miserably. In ubuntu when I run simg2img I get "Error reading sparse file header"

Anyone knows of any method to mount system.img under Ubuntu?

                              [SOLVED]: mount -o loop system.img ./rk3188Riley

Now I am trying to find nls_utf8.ko for our kernel.

@Riley can you help with that or give some info on how to build kernel modules for RK3188 in ubuntu? Also I tried to mount a share from my NAS but it failed. Used PlayStore tools and also tried from command line but it still fails.

                              mount -t cifs -o username=USERNAME,password=PASSWD //192.168.1.100/public /mnt/cifs/share

Other programs like AndSMB, ES file explorer etc. work like a charm with my NAS

                              Thanks a lot
