UPDATED - CX919 - 4.2.2 - Finless ROM 1.6b

No issues on my CX919 with the new 1.6 so thank you very much Bob.

My only comment is that my LED remained on throughout the flashing process (when holding the button down and connecting) although it says it should go off in the reader (same since 1.4). It got me stuck for a little while since I usually follow instructions pretty literally.

Like I said everything worked out well for me so some sticks might just have it so the light stays on.

Does the screen flicker for you? Because when i flashed my rom the screen started flickering and I HAD TO FLASH A RESCUE ROM TO STOP IT. BUT THAT rom is clocked at 1.4 Ghz

HUGE CX-919 PROBLEMS - no hdmi signal or stuck in boot loop

I have huge problems with my two CX-919 sticks since I don’t have any HDMI signal anymore on both of them.
One i had flashed with finless 1.6b rom which worked fine at the time..after that I didn’t touch it for a while but now that I power it up again after a few weeks it doesn’t give me any HDMI signal anymore.
I also got a second CX-919 with stock firmware which I never tested up till now and it behaves exactly the same..no HDMi signal.

Flashing works fine without any errors.
I have tried flashing this second one with several CX-919 ROMs from geekbuying and vondroid using RKBatchTool v1.7 :

[VonDroid.com]-cx919-4.2-6210_2013-06-12
of which none worked..only the last one ([VonDroid.com]-cx919-4.2-6210_2013-06-12) gave me a bit of a signal as it entered a boot loop in which it kept showing me the penguins.
Reflashing finless 1.6b now gives me a bootloop showing me a www.rikomagic.com logo in between.


Could someone please help me as I am at the end of my wits.
Why can this happen all of a sudden and what is the proper way to fix this and how can I avoid this from happening again? Could someone point me to the latest OFFICIAL stock CX-919 firmware? I’m at the point that I don’t want anything fancy anymore..I just want something that will work.

I got my cx 919 because of the rave reviews and all the fun youtube vids espousing it's many virtues. My skill level is a little above PC enthusiast and a little below PC expert. The cx 919 is only my third android device. No matter what rom I try, or which TV I use it on - I CAN NOT playback anything but the simplest .avi files. My son's dual core Chinese knock off 7 inch can play .mp4's with varying success at different resolutions. My personal Nextbook 7P can playback .mkv's. But nothing I try will get ANYTHING to play on the stick with a container anymore complicated than divx. Tried several player programs, I believe the MXPlayer and VLC Beta. The VLC would work a bit then crash the whole thing. I've flashed the rom nearly 10 times with NO problems at all. Any ideas?

Hey Finless Bob im sure you have already answered this some where but i have installed your rom and it looks amazing however i am experiencing screen flickering when ever i go to 720 or 1080p so i had to flash the cx-919-new-stock-firmware-solve-the-screen-flickering-problem rom from geekbuying.com and now the flickering is gone how ever now i don't have root or any of the other changes you've made my question is why do i have have flickering on your rom and not the fixed one and is there a way to fix the flickering on your rom cause id really rather use yours over the stock id be sure to send a couple of beers your way for the help

the problem is the 1.6 ghz cpu if you use stock rom with 1.4 then is fine another solution is the neomode 1.9a rom with 1.4 cpu . thats all...
it does not work with 1.6 roms.µ

So basicaly I got a defective device that can't handle being clocked at1.6ghz? I'll probably look into getting either a replacement or a return and get a different model. I got my stick cause I herd it was powerful so I could use it as a emulator console but if I can't get the full 1.6 GHz I might as well get a refund where would be the best place to get a cx 919 with out this issue I got mine from geekbuyings Amazon.

I was hoping it was just a display driver issue or a kernal issue cause I had a newer version kinda disappointed

Shouldn't you first make sure if the emulator runs properly or not?

If you got the device fairly recently, chances are that you have a 3188T CPU. That means 1.6GHz is out of specification for that CPU.

The emulators iv tried with fine haven't tried ppsspp yet which is where I was hopeing the 1.6ghz would help also one of the main reasons I chose this stick over the others was cause of finless's ROM support . the fixed stock ROM has a few bugs so i was hopeing to use finless's rom

If the reason that finless's ROM has the flickering issue is cause by it Trying to run at1.6ghz instead Of 1.4ghz wouldnt installing the ROM but leaving the stock kernel fix the problem? or clocking the kernel that comes with the finless ROM to 1.4ghz fix the problem?

maybe a stupid thing... but i used this wonderfull rom for 3 months or something, very stable a fast, but i cant see xbmc in full screen. In previous rom there is a option to automatically hide system bar, but i cant find it on this 1.6b.
I know a lot of app for do this thing, but i think if that is system-enabled may be the better way, can you put this in yours to-do Bob? Very appreciated!

Hi,

You could use the Xposed framework (search XDA for it) with the Gravitybox module.
It among other things allows you to enable immersive mode.

And it's free but does need root.
