CX - 919 running Finless 1.5 freezing during local video playback, needs to be unplugged and replugged

    Hello,

I recently opened up the box on my new CX-919 running Android 4.2 and Finless 1.5.

The application I'm using it for requires that it stays always on and endlessly plays back videos from local storage.

I've been testing it for the last two days, it's been working fine, but then this morning I woke up to check on it and it was frozen on a black screen, unresponsive to mouse clicks.

It has a 2100mA Power Supply (out of the box).

Is there anything I can do to insure that the device doesn't freeze in the future?

    Thank you for your help,

    Jboo

Practically no. What you can do is try different roms and kernels and see if anything works better on your particular device. Also make sure it does not over heat and make sure your PSU can deliver or get one that can. Many PSUs that are delivered with the stick have been reported to be bad.

What I did last night was purchase a Neo X7. Reviews online support it's stability. If I'm not seeking 1080p support, and my only criteria was a box that plays videos endlessly without crashing does anyone have insight as to what box would be useful to try?

Thus far hardware progression has been Roku (sucked) --> GK 802 (stock ROM too slow) --> MK802 IV (finless1.5 - app malfunctions, still testing but worried about the poor wifi reception, even after antenna fix) --> CX-919 (finless 1.5 - walked in to a black screen and a unresponsive device)

        Thank you,

        Jboo

I have so far used 1.5 which worked fine and so does 1.6b. I am about to start fiddling with kit kat roms now too, as soon as I have produced a kernel that I am happy with.

That basically means set the GPU, CPU and RAM speeds to what my device can handle, and updated a few other things.

I hope kit kat roms will work fine, but I have so far not tested them myself.

thank you, please let me know if any device, kernel and ROM combination creates a stable device for you. If anyone else has a suggestion,it would be great if you could share it.

I use 1.6b, with my own kernel, and I've had it running for several weeks without a restart. Videos have at most been playing about 8 consecutive hours. My CPU is set to scale to 1608, my RAM is at 667 Mhz and the GPU at 400 iirc.

Mind you I have not tried looping videos endlessly with this setup, but it is stable enough for me.

Thank you, I'm going to emulate your conditions and test. Do you mind sharing your kernel or a similar kernel?

Thank you Sanju_x20. We have two devices, so I can update one to Android 4.4.

I will report back once I have found a solution. If anyone else thinks of anything in the meantime, I'm subscribed to the tread and will be alerted ASAP of any new methods or devices to try.

I could possibly build one for you, but it will take some time before I'm able to do that, sleep and work is prioritized

If you are so inclined you could easily build it yourself. All source is available at github. There is a script called Marvin that does everything for you.

GitHub is where people build software. More than 150 million people use GitHub to discover, fork, and contribute to over 420 million projects.

When using Marvin it is possible to lower or raise limits for various parts if anything is unstable. It requires 64bit Linux. Available virtually if on windows.

This is a "give a man a fish he eats for a day teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime" kind of scenario.

Thank you JugsteR. My dad used to always say that. Then he put me in the driver's seat of his stick shift and I crashed into a tree. It was a gentle crash though, and I did eventually learn. Will report back.

I couldn't sleep, so I built a kernel for you... Actually two, one 720p and one 1080p.

                          720p: https://mega.co.nz/#!ZABwyLCQ!IGXlNy...uK30OOykNMj4Wk

These have sams stutter fix, 667Mhz ram, 1608Mhz cpu, and 600Mhz gpu.

Have fun, and if something breaks my email address is [email protected] =)

Finless 1.6b giving me HDMI problems on CX-919, flashing Finless 2.0

For some reason or another, Finless 1.6b has been giving me HDMI problems - the screen flickers and sometime flashes to black. I'm going to flash Finless 2.0 to see if that solves the problem. (I'll be keeping your kernel JugsteR.)
