Its ok man. People here from all over the world. Have you tried flashing finless's other rom? The jb 4.1? Its right here. Im not sure if I understand you correctly..But your having a problem with the kernel? Others have had problems too. I read where flashing the 4.1 worked for them. Something to do with version of bootloader maybe.? Its worth a try.

Yes problems with the kernel. She firmware works well. Please explain what the boot loader, and which kernel to Use. Maybe it's the wipe, and I had it before flashing did not do? Can wipe?

Thanks for feedback. Do you have original single-antenna Tronsmart CX-919?

I hope finless include some of it in 1.7. I can provide all sources (so he can easily put geekbuing logo back) if he needs it. Just PM me.

IMHO, the original one is not from tronsmart. Maybe tronsmart made their stick identical to the original though...

he flash tool doesn't recognize it at all I have tried everything but I cant uninstall the driver win 8 used when I first plugged it in. I wanted to reformat my PC but I get some error about missing files. Im gonna beat myPC with a sledgehammer lol

OK, I've tried 1.4, 1.5, and the latest 1.6 to no avail. All i get is flickering flickering flickering.

I've even loaded it back to "stock" which was linked else where, still flickers.

I even used a clockworkmod recovery image and it flickers even in there!

It did not flicker before i started doing all this, regardless of 720 or 1080. In one build i saw, when i dropped it to 480, it flickered the least.

I'm starting to think either it broke at the same time as the first re-flash, or the re-flash broke it. I've even tried mixing different recovery/boot images into the latest version to no avail. Nothing I do makes it stop flickering. I have never had any problems erasing or flashing for 20 or so times either.

Any suggestions? Think i'm going to load it stock again and try to send it back, lol. Who knows if that will work.

Maybe we work on a ROM together if you like?

                      ------------------

The flashing is likely related to a defect in hardware. That was my problem. Reproducing the error was relatively simple:

Set the resolution (on any ROM core) to 1080p. Even if the kernel/boot is lower and setting the higher resolution won't actually change the display, but triggers the hardware failure which causes the screen to flicker/flash.

In only had it on the CX-919. I had mine unit replaced and the problem went away.

Regardless of whether or not you have the drivers successfully installed, when you put your stick into flash mode and connect it to the PC, the PC should recognize that something was plugged into it. If the drivers weren't installed correctly it should say "Unrecognized Device" and ask you for drivers. If it's not doing this then my assumption is:
                        1. Your USB cable or USB port is an issue
                        2. You are not putting your stick into flash mode properly
                        3. Your stick is defective

In the past, my issue was due to issue #1. You need to make sure you use the cable that came with your stick as these sticks seems to be very sensitive to the USB cable. I had like 4 or 5 USB to microUSB cables that were fine for other peripherals, but would not work with the CX-919. My PC would not register that I had plugged the stick into a USB port until I identified the one that actually came with the stick. It would be great if someone could post a USB that they bought that actually works with this stick b/c if my cable goes bad, then connecting the stick to the PC is going to be a problem for me.

Try connecting to a USB port on the back of your PC (i.e. direct connection to your motherboard). Make sure it's a USB 2.0 port (a USB 3.0 port may not work). If you still have connection issues remove all connections to your PC except your mouse and keyboard as there may be a device conflict that you're not aware of. Finally if none of this works, try another PC. At a minimum, your PC should recognize that you've plugged something into it when putting your stick into flash mode. Whether or not it actually recognizes what that "something is" is a driver issue which you can troubleshoot later. BTW, what OS is your PC on? I know this stick works with Windows XP and 7, I'm not sure about Windows 8.

                        Hope that helps,

I tried every USB port on my PC. I am using the original USB cable that came with my Android Stick. I am running Win 8.1 and flashed FinlessROM 1.4 on the same PC with no problems. The device manager is showing this: Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) I go to update driver and it says windows already has the best driver installed and wont accept the updated driver. It doesn't even give me the option to make Windows update the drive, damn Win 8!!!! Funny thing is when I plug it in normal (not flash mode) the Flash tool shows it connected. Im about to smash my PC!!!

That's weird. I thought the flash tool wouldn't recognize your stick at all unless it was in flash mode. Have you tried uninstalling the unknown USB device in device manager, reboot and see if the PC requests a driver? From my recollection, getting Windows to "forget" a bad driver is not easy although it is possible with some work. Has your PC ever recognized your stick in the past? My suggestion would be to try and find a Windows 7 box and try connecting your stick to that.

I had this identical issue. I absolutely could not get my windows 8.1 machine to recognize the device properly. I had to flash finless1.6b using my windows 7 machine.

Read this thread. My post #39 shows how I finally got ONE of my 3 USB ports to work with Windows 8.1. But no one has ever responded and said that this worked for them.
