I even used a clockworkmod recovery image and it flickers even in there!

It did not flicker before i started doing all this, regardless of 720 or 1080. In one build i saw, when i dropped it to 480, it flickered the least.

I'm starting to think either it broke at the same time as the first re-flash, or the re-flash broke it. I've even tried mixing different recovery/boot images into the latest version to no avail. Nothing I do makes it stop flickering. I have never had any problems erasing or flashing for 20 or so times either.

Any suggestions? Think i'm going to load it stock again and try to send it back, lol. Who knows if that will work.
I had the flashing to the point of unusable but when I could get into Settings - Screen - HDMI Mode I changed it to the last of the 3 options and the flashing went away. That was right after flashing the ROM then trying to setup. Once I got it to my TV I then changed to the option that I wanted and all was good. My monitor just didn't like the default setting after flashing the new ROM

Have you tried uninstalling the unknown USB device in device manager, reboot and see if the PC requests a driver? From my recollection, getting Windows to "forget" a bad driver is not easy although it is possible with some work. Has your PC ever recognized your stick in the past? My suggestion would be to try and find a Windows 7 box and try connecting your stick to that.

I've attached a usb tool call USBDeview, it's freeware. It lets you view usb devices currently attached or that you've connected in the past. It's a little tricky to use but I've found it to be invaluable with all the flashing that I do to tabs and phones. Sometimes it's easier to delete them with this tool and start over. You need to watch the items you're deleting or you may delete something you don't want to delete. HTH Bill
PS I do NOT know if this works with Windows 8 as I've only used it with Win 7 x64 and x86

          Hey, Bob.

Thanks for the offer, but I do not know much about Android internals and ROM building I simply fixed annoying things, that's all.

My mod is described on the page 12, message #227 and can be downloaded from there. Basically, I've replaced misaligned cursor, changed boot image/animation to a less annoying and swapped sdcard/external_sd mount points.

You need to use the side microUSB slot (which should be the OTG port). The DC port if for power only and is not used or necessary when flashing as the stick get's its power from your PC. Here's what I do:

            1. Start up the Flashing tool (it should say no device recognized)
            2. Unplug everything from your Android stick except the microUSB cable (which came with the stick (VERY IMPORTANT that you use this cable)) which should be plugged into your OTG slot (side slot).
            3. Hold down your flash button on your Android stick
            4. While holding down your flash button, plug the other end of your USB cable into your PC (use USB 2.0 slot and don't use a USB hub). It's preferable to use a USB slot in the back as that hooks straight into your motherboard.
            5. Once you've plugged your cable into your PC let go of the stick's flash button
            6. You should here the familiar "bong" from your PC which indicates that it has recognized that a USB peripheral has been connected to your PC. If you don't then re-try. You must make sure that you are holding the flash button while connecting the cable to the PC.
            7. At this point your computer should have recognized your stick (if you've already installed the proper drivers) and the flash tool has also indicated that your stick is recognized. If you haven't installed your drivers, then you will be asked to do this at this point. Use the drivers that are included in the ROM pack that Finless provides.
            8. Flash your stick with the ROM as indicated in the instructions located within the ROM pack.

            Hope that helps.

Noooo The OTG port on the cx919 is the one on the top next to the full sized usb port,,its normaly the one on the side on most sticks but not on the cx919..

I read somewhere in this thread how to remove the bar at bottom so I dont see the clock and the home button and stuff. I have a remote for it so I dont need that bar at the bottom.
also the google search bar on the homescreen is that posible to remove also.
I want my homescreen clean with only apps i use.

                  Edit:
It was the USB cable!! wtf!!!
The same cable worked for all my phones, but not for this CX-919.
Changed to my galaxy nexus cable and it worked the first time.

Note: The blue LED stays lit even though it is in flash mode for my CX-919

Here are the settings I used:

Works great so far. Thanks Bob.

                    1080p

                    Hello,

Today I flash my cx919 with this software.

I used the 1080P and I try to connect to my nas to watch some movies.

                    Conclusion

DVD are okay with wifi stream

720P are okay with wifi stream

1080P not okay with wifi steam, It needs more buffer..
Is there a way to create more buffer for 1080P streams?
Or is there a way to watch 1080P steam over the wifi with cx919?

XBMC is also working on this one, but 1080P not

Can you try playing the file from the SDCard? If that works then maybe you can get a LAN adapter and try that.

1080p did not work well for me with the stock ROM, yet to try this.

Hi all... new to the blog. I just updated my cx919 with cx-919-rk3188-T-4.2-6210-20130 and since then it is not working properly. The screen keeps flickering and internet doesn't work properly. Can someone please tell me how to undo the rooting process and take the stick back to factory settings.

                            Hello,

On the first page you can find the software, this works verry good.
Unzip it, and flash it in your HDMI stick.

I had the same problem with latest stock software, but with this software is it okay, also XBMC.
I make my stick 1080P software, but in the readme file stand how you can do it, standaard when you flash it will be 720P but on the WIFI you cannot play 1080P movie, it is just a bit to slow it needs more buffer.

                            Regards,
                            Michel

If it is too slow, it doesn't matter how big the buffer is basically. I mean you could buffer the entire file but I guess that is not what you mean.

It is about bit rate... If the bit rate is to high you won't be able to steam 480p movies.

So saying that 1080p doesn't work is wrong. It works great for me. However, the quality, due to the low bit rate, is not that great.

                                Signature? Signature!
