        Patch ATV to AOSP
        (Probably not true AOSP/Normal Android)

        patch-AOSP2ATV_vtx.zip

        (XVortex mods only?)

        or
        ~ Maikl ~ Mod -4PDA
Allows you to fix any launcher.
The archive includes four launchers, one of them is AOSP
        Third-party market and DroidTVSettings settings

        (not true AOSP?)

(nnn~ Maikl ~ or Slimbox mods only?)

(Xvortex, lyubodelev, ~ Maikl ~ firmwares tend to have TWRP buit in...so back-up before messing up with patches!!!)

Just letting some people who haven't tried pie yet. I have a H96 pro plus v6 board.

Did two versions listed in the main page. One a 32 bit and the other 64bit. I am surprised nobody offers root or points to a TWRP to install. I assume the q201n will work, though I will only load it, not flash it to do my mods. Even though the 64 bit was a wee more buggy than the 32bit, I managed to make it play nice like the 32 bit version, in having phone and tv apps together, and a nice updated phone gboard keyboard. Gave up on android tv gboard. I think the rom is labeled box6 at the front of the name. It was a russian site download. I used an old app called tvlauncher. It allows custom buttons for apps that don't play well on built in images for buttons. Once I make sure I have tested everything well, I will then root and do some minor mods. Will enable Dolby Atmos 2 or 3 as I have a set of packages to use on pie. I will probably remove all built in Google stuff, and replace it all with a fresh open gapps 64bit build package. At least get the Google certified set in play store and spoof a new android TV for proper apps.

                  Possible features?
                  • AOSP/ Normal
                  • TWRP
                  • Brightness control
                  • VPN notifications
                  • Playstore (for our paid apps)
                  • Lock screen if possible (AdGuard cert.)

I don't know what ReaperMan's rant is... only TWRP seems valid for my install issues.

I get VPN notification, brightness adjustment is on my tv, and has never been an issue since using custom firmwares. I installed a few paid apps from Android TV playstore. Though after a few reboots my playstore changes from simplified to normal, with locked out menu bar options. I assume this is a build.prop issue with dpi setting non standard, and an id of hertz. Like Playstore will think it's a non valid box, with that id.

Issues are Peacock TV will not start. It's been this way with all my tested builds. ROOT is busted. Tried every method to remove or enable, some apps don't run on root, like ThreeNow AU TV. Screen savery will not sleep, box when forced to sleep with tv power off, will start up tv after waking, for no reason. I watched it over and the box would hart beat a few times within a 15 minutes period then pop on the TV.

A bug is fastboot. Seems like it does not take the full set of commands. Tried dumping boot.img, two differing ways. No go.
if I could get a good boot image. I would patch it in Magisk Manager. Did it a few times with my box older firmware and other devices.

64bit has better remote responses (some what normal) while 32 bit has flakes double key and jumping issues on D-pad. Once we have TWRP, I can resolve many issues that are outstanding on this Russian build. Maybe I should wait for the dev to post an updated release later on this year.

Ok, I dusted off my H96 pro + from the 64bit pie. Tried to flash one of the 64 bit versions made with proper remote setup. I wish I had labeled my downloaded images, have no clue to the developers. It was with and odd Lz compression. Unzipped it and it did not have a file extension. Tried flashing, no go. I assume it was fully unzipped, since the file size is 1.66GB. So I figured I would go with the 32bit once again. Trouble with all the roms, is old versions of back drop wallpaper. Once updated, just sits there, until a few hours have passed, and updates images. Right now I can let the box stay active, since I have dlp rear projection, no screen burn.

the only reason why I prefer 64bit, is for the apps I use, also there are 64 bit pixel only apps.

Ok, I did a few things with Daiveit version. Changed the build.prop to an updated version of my Sony TV mod.

1st thing after initial flash, is to do a TWRP on SDCard boot using update utility in the apps drawer. I had added the custom TWRP build posted back near page 4, to a thumb drive.

Select the Magisk installer zip, that was also placed on thumb drive. It will reboot into fastboot, recovery options menu... the only way I could get recovery to start up. All methods would have boot logo freeze.

Select load from EXT, and select the TWRP zip. It will load the image and boot into TWRP. Do not use any function outside of flashing image. Select the TWRP image on the OTA drive, and reboot into recovery. The recovery will be the TWRP that was successfully flashed.

From there change data to ext4 and format data. Flash Magisk and reboot.

The only big issue is sleep and CEC. I have added some HDMI settings in build.prop to hopefully correct the issues. But Samsung wigs out with Anynet+ set. Mostly because the box releases the CEC settings once rebooted. Also depending on display settings, once sleep mode starts the box will end up rebooting within minutes.

I have to keep led on, for mouse dongle active for wake up. I may configure air mouse to send ir signal for wake up/sleep toggle without need to use CEC. Just have to sync the power option with tv, as the tv uses the same code for both wake and power off. I could connect the box wall wart to my receiver, switched power connection, but sometimes my hdmi wigs out with reciever. So, until I fully test the new hdmi mod options from my old box firmware, I will try using CEC settings before manual work arounds with equipement.

Stock build.prop will not allow ThreeNow, All4, Peacock and a few other apps from running, or installing. Can't side load ITV Hub (Android TV), app detects wrong device when launched.

Again build.prop needs to be properly configured, and may be problematic with box function. Seems adb was disabled in this build. Some apps detect su, though I have yet to see it active, or find its location. Though I haven't done a good search, due to the tonnes of apps and configs set to verify builds stability and function. Used Remote ADB to use adb over wifi between devices, since the build does not enable adb, until build.prop is edited.

Ok, I had reverted back to the Highwaystar ATV 9 for lpdr3 H96 pro +. It's a basic starter, that is surprisingly universal with most all my phone apps mixed in with ATV. Though you need to be prepared to have some apps for side loading. TVlauncher works fine as a replacement to ATV launcher.

Cleaned up a wee few annoyances, by adding some missing permissions xml files from my Arm7a 9.0 phone. Also had to remove all the system apps from power savings in the advanced options.

The default to push everything into power savings kills functionality when box goes to sleep. Probably reason why my box would reboot on power up from sleep once woke for a minute or so.

Added remote.conf from my original firmware though something is a wee different. There are 3 other remote configs in place. Since my main remote is a fly mouse with back side keyboard, the remote config is not needed.

My Sony mod build.prop is working awsome. No phone apps populate in play store atv, unless they are universal. I use a
                              Aurora for phone apps.

Peacock, Three and STV Player, all have issues. STV is phone only app, Peacock just won't run on level 3 boxes, and Three is another phone app that detects root, no matter how I try to hide it.

Decided sleep mode is not working well at all... disabled sleep and added quick reboot app to control power off functions. May just setup the timer to reboot every night to keep the system clean, and never need to turn off the box.

Adding Arm8 system mods and testing further.

I really prefer 64bit version but is there any robust option for h96+? THanks.
