Why is it so important for you to remove it?
Simply ignore it if you don't like it ...
[Naturally is can be removed by altering the code. Maybe Randy or Bob can provide an answer to that]

Cause when I use SwiftKey it interferes with the bottom bar and I have to hide the status bar using the hide button

Yeah that damn bar screws with SwiftKey. Pisses me off.
To get rid of that hidden bar option do the following.

          1. Install Build.prop Editor
          2. Run and seach for the word bar
          3. Tap on ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI
          4. Change the Property Value to True and click Save.
          5. Reboot

I live on the eastern coast of Australia.
On GPS Test I am seeing zero satellites (zero available, zero locked in).
I have left the tablet outside for as long as I can, but so far I've only been able to leave it for about 40 minutes at a time. Otherwise it gets too hot from the sun, or it has started to rain (bloody tropical climate).

My understanding is that, even with a faulty antenna, the tablet will see at least some satellites.
Should I be leaving the tablet outside longer?
The only gps related file that I've been able to find in the tablet is "gpsconfig.xml".
I have now had my tablet sitting outside for over 2 hours without any satellites being picked up. And yes, I do have the GPS turned on.

Can anyone give me any ideas on how to activate the GPS or what could be wrong?

Most likely you have an broken hardware but their are to thing you can test before you give up
first download this file http://gllto.glpals.com/7day/latest/lto.dat and plase it in /data/gps/ folder that will give the gps access to the latest satellite orbit data.

Edit the gpsconfig.xml file, in the end of the file you will find some coordinates that are on the northen hemisphere, edit them to somewhere near you (it is documented that some gps have difficulty to pass the ecvator )

              hop this will help.

              regards mats

the ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI switches the android UI between tablet and phone.

true makes it tablet while false makes it phone style

                i`ll keep it tablet style

Just when I'm ready to pull my tablet apart, GPS Test is showing that the tablet is picking up satellites.
Not quite as many as my Galaxy S, but good enough for me.

Strange that it took so much fiddling before the tablet started to pick up satellites.

I was going to, but the GPS Test suddenly started to record satellites. The only co-ordinates I can find in "gpsconfig.xml" are 4 or 5 co-ordinates inside a comment. i.e. inside the < ...> marks.

Just flashed this room and i almost feel like its slower then the original rom?

                              Have the following problems:

Cant rotate screen! (rotation not locked)
Anoying problem with swiftkey and the lower bar in the rom (the bar is above the swiftkeyboard).

                              Anyone have some tips?
