Oh...BTW, my ROM's come with CWM Recovery automatically installed after the first boot. This allows stock recovery to format everything...then CWM will take over after a reboot (as long as you give it time to install).Randy

- What about battery duration on your KK ROM? I'll like to give it a try.
- Is there any app for sending SMS using the number of the SIM inserted. Real SMS, not like those programs that resend SMS via email. I need to activate WhatApp but without SMS it's imposible.

There is a slight increase in battery consumption...not much, though.
I accidentally posted this comment on the wrong thread, sorry. I moved that post over to this thread:

The SMS features of the KitKat ROM are lacking.
Like I said, the KitKat version needs A LOT of Pipo's love to be ready for daily use...Randy

GPS Problem
Back on the GPS problem again.
I live on the eastern coast of Australia.
On GPS Test I am seeing zero satellites (zero available, zero locked in).
I have left the tablet outside for as long as I can, but so far I've only been able to leave it for about 40 minutes at a time. Otherwise it gets too hot from the sun, or it has started to rain (bloody tropical climate).
My understanding is that, even with a faulty antenna, the tablet will see at least some satellites.
Should I be leaving the tablet outside longer?
The only gps related file that I've been able to find in the tablet is "gpsconfig.xml".
Any ideas?

FYI you do not need to reboot to get a time sync from your router or internet.
Anytime your IP address lease is renewed it will also do a NTP time sync.
The clock drift is correct. It will drift because of the RTC in these cheap ass tablets
They don't spend money on making it accurate because Android was developed for phones which will keep good time with a constant 3/4G connection.
But this should not effect GPS lock if your GPS has been locked in the last few days. It would probably take a 5 minute drift and a no lock for days to notice this.

GPS/WiFi
Hey All. Am I the ONLY one in the world that has NO GPS/WiFi PROBLEMS ?? I frequently get over 12 satellites showing up on the GPS test app that came with the Pipo firmware with an accuracy of 39 feet when 4 are being used. Google maps works perfectly well with the blue dot on my exact location and the shaded out circle showing the accuracy (again dependent on #of satellites being used for location) The tablet I have also works perfectly well in the UK giving similar results. I have been running Finless 1.5 since its release and have never altered any files to make anything work (or work better) The ONLY thing I have done with the clock is to set the time zone back to China after flashing Finless - no dicking about with NTS or anything!
Does this not provide evidence that the Firmware is actually working correctly and that it is the hardware in others tablets causing the errors and lack of GPS / WiFi ? In fact Bob himself had problems that he fixed by resoldering the connections of the wires to the antennas inside HIS tablet to get them working properly. The SNR on my GPS is not great - less than 30db, BUT this is fine for navigation and position of photos tagged with GPS In fact I get very similar results with my Samsung Note - 16 satellites seen with 15 in use giving me an accuracy of 26 feet but no SNR higher than 38db HOWEVER, I paid 4 times as much for the Samsung - not sure what people are expecting from their tablets, but I am getting AMAZING value for money on mine!
My point is that I am convinced that the software/firmware is working correctly and your hardware is at fault when you are unable to get decent GPS or WiFi signals - perhaps others could confirm this for all to see in in order to stop the conjecture flying around regarding these issues. I would love to take mine apart and photo how it has been soldered BUT I am not going to do that until the warranty runs out!
Hope this helps with some of you out there! In fact, could we have a survey of all those with good GPS and WiFi - we only ever seem to hear from people with problems - I BET there are more tablets out there working than not!
Cheers,
Colin.

Don't Know which CWM Recovery to use
Hi Randy and Bob, after reading Ludoke's posting, I became confused when you provided a link to a different CWM recovery file. Do I use the CWM recovery file that's in Bob's finless ROM 1.5 or the one that's at the http://files.androtab.info/rockchip/...ENERIC_CWM.zip link? I'm glad I found you guys and another donation is forthcoming. I really appreciate the expert guidance, time, and patience you guys display.

Please understand that I deal with literally hundreds of ROM's, so it's hard for me to remember what is in the kit.
Bob has his own CWM Recovery that he includes in his ROM's. I use the generic CWM, and auto-install it after first boot.
When you said that you got the laying down android when you booted to recovery, I was thinking that you didn't flash the correct recovery.img. Then, I figured that the CWM might have been missing from the ROM kit (I've never really looked a it). I just sent you the link to the generic version as an alternative.
BY ALL MEANS, if Bob put CWM in the kit...then that's the one you should use. Just make sure you are actually flashing the correct image.Randy
