What I just told you about what I'm doing in the previous post concerning the Omni ROM is plan "B". I'm still hoping for one of you guys to come through with plan "A", which is a ROM dump...really of the whole installation would be great.

    I'm going to need:

    parameter
    system.img
    boot.img
    kernel.img
    recovery.img

But if system.img is all you can get...I can live with that. My plan is to incorporate these new files into the 3.0 ROM kit, since all this is is an update...the other parts are still being used from my ROM, or the stock ROM.

This is all of Omni's work, and I don't propose to change anything...except to put it into a package that is flashable with a PC.

The zip file is signed as a firmware update. I'm just speculating here, but I think that a zip file that is signed, can't be extracted with those apps. On a PC, it shows up as a regular zip file.

My experience is that if you just change something in the zip file and save it, usually it doesn't work, because it isn't signed anymore. Results may vary, though.

If you look at the folders of the ROM kit, there is a sub folder with a different tool...and it has instructions in a txt file written by Finless.

problems in the 3.0.1 zip file

            Hi,

I've just been looking at the RR 3.0.1 zip file and see something that might explain some of the trouble people have been reporting.

First off, downloaded Pipo_M9_Pro_RileyROM_3.0.1.zip from the first post in this thread.

            MD5 sum: 5f74607dc76be131f4f998076705e662

I first tested with the linux "unzip -t" (derived from Info-ZIP), each of the files came back with this error, for example:
            Code:
            file #184 (RileyROM/system.img):
mismatch between local and central GPF bit 11 ("UTF-8"),
                     continuing with central flag (IsUTF8 = 1)
              inflating: RileyROM/system.img
but otherwise unzip'ed ok. I ran it through 7zip's test function, it also came back with 192 errors about "Unsupported Method" (one for each file).

Unzipping with linux's 'unzip' (Info-ZIP) creates 194 files using 821MB.
Unzipping with 7zip on linux also creates 194 files, but this time using only 11MB, many of the files are 0 bytes, RileyROM/kernel407.img (11MB) is the only file which contains anything.

I don't know why there is a discrepancy between 192 and 194 files.

The only other RileyRom.zip I have near me right now is the old 2.0 version, it does not report any errors in the zip file using either of the tools.

Is there an official link to the original 3.0.0 zip file existing still? (not looking for a google drive upload, just the original freak-tab.de one, thanks)

Workaround: for the 3.0.1 zip download, don't use 7-zip.

I use either Linux or WinRAR 64bit to zip...depending on if I need to work with the files in Windows or not. I just upgraded to the newest version of WINRAR.

                zip

I suspect the trouble arose from repacking the zip with the 407 kernel using a different computer or different program than the original 3.0.0 used. Either the locale or the UTF8 awareness of the zip program was different. It seems to be the encoding used in the filenames so perhaps the files pulled from a different filesystem type?

That's very possible. The original zip was created in Linux and I edited it in Windows with WinRAR. I've been doing it that way since the beginning...and never heard any complaints.

Of coarse, I'm no artist, like Tattman65...but the 3D look is much more pleasing on the eye than that tired old Pipo logo.

Just giving you a hard time, man...to each his own.....I just hope the ROM is an improvement over the 29 previous ones.

Yes Riley, who's looking at the bootscreen ,it's 1 minute on the screen.
there are hard headed people ,i am totally not interested in the bootscreen.
Can you make one for Kenneth,so he can watch it all te time?

I have a new firmware update for the M7 Pro. I'm working on v3.3 for the M9 Pro with this firmware.

My question is, which kernel should I include in the kit?

Is 406 or 407 best? Or should I include both?

The 407 with 720 ram is by far the best as others have stated. I use my tablet pretty heavy and have had RR3.0 installed since you posted and have only had 1 force restart while backing up via titanium.

OK, I will include 407 (stock) as the default kernel...and add the custom kernels from 407 in the kit, as well.

Edit: I've decided to leave the custom kernels out of the ROM...there's too many to choose from. You can still grab from here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/68bi4uj49si9w/3.0_407

Will 3.3 be 4.4.4? Or still on 4.4.2?

                            Comment

                              This one is 4.4.2.

I have played around with that 4.4.4 ROM posted above, but couldn't get it to work. It's some other developer's headache...not mine...hahahaha!!!!!!!
