    4.4.4 Chinese ROM

    M-M-C and others,

    The 4.4.4 ROM looks interesting.

The D/L is a zip file size 221MB, would one put this in the root of the Pipo internal SD card and boot to it or what?
Presumably it sets up in Chinese so how easy is it to change to English(I have no Chinese).

I am currently running 4.2.2 but there seems to be the suggestion that 4.4.4 may be less buggy than earlier KitKat's.

Have used, and, I think , understand instructions to install both Riley and Kasty ROMs so possibly with help might try this 4.4.4. Or, better still, if Riley has plans for 4.4.4 ROM?, wait for this.

Dont like the 4:3 screen form factor for high res RK3288 tabs( that I know of) so shall stick with M9Pro for now.
    Thanks,

Do you have a download link for 4.4.4? I'm prepared to give it a try! Having huge issues with flickering screen when 3g or even 2g signal is too weak. Tablet becomes unusable as touchscreen does not work. Only works well when sim card is removed. What a hastle!

EDIT Tried 4.4.2(M9PRO-MIUI-4.4.2-4G-) Lovely rom but no 3g or access via usb to transfer files.
Perhaps Randy could do a trick or two. ie Fix these two problems. Would be fantastic!!

          M-M-C,

Your post 378 the D/L is a .apk file but no tx file to explain what it is or does.

Do you know how to use this?

          Riley,
Would you have time, or interest, to look at this with a view to adapting with your magic
to produce a Riley 4.4.4 ROM.?

If someone successfully installs this update to make your tablet 4.4.4, I'm going to need a ROM dump of your installation.

In my 3.0.1 ROM kit, you will see a ROM dumper tool included with a txt file with instructions. I need the parameter and system.img only...(I think). I can extract the boot.img from the update zip.

There isn't a kernel in the zip...so I assume the new 4.4.4 kernel is embedded in the new boot.img.

This was just posted in the qq group:

              3. Reboot into Recovery using KKRomkit
              4. Flash rom(select from /external_sd or /cache if you have place it the internal storage
              5. Do a Full Wipe

I got it installed but every dump i tried wont boot after restoring... maybe im too stupid, maybe the ROM_Flash_Tool_137 is incompatible. I wasnt able to install this at all if my previous rom was installed via ROM_Flash_Tool_137, so maybe there is a problem...
Anyway, i wanna show you guys how to install it, maybe someone is more capable of dumping that thing than me. Oh yeah, you NEED the chinese teamwin recovery, TWRP won't work!
furthermore i edited the Omni Rom to make english it's default language and i activated the soft keys (just some build.prop editing)

                so here it is:
do a full "restore" with the official Pipo Update Tool: http://www.pipo.cn/En/index.php?m=Ab...ian_show&id=70
here is the tricky part, you'll need root to install chinese teamwin recovery... i couldnt manage to manually root the official firmware so i installed this: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/...ware-20140504/
after a full restore i installed the KKPipoRomkit_v2.03.apk and granted root.
                now it's getting interesting.

This is a really nice rom but needs access to 3g. Anything you can do or perhaps explain how to do it?
Think I must be stupid, but I cannot work it out!
Also what tweaks can be done to enable usb so my computer "sees" Pipo, And therefore enables file copying. Thanx in advance. Regards.

EDIT I was referring to this rom - M9PRO-MIUI-4.4.2-4G not the omni rom.

[QUOTE=rrileypm;200338]If someone successfully installs this update to make your tablet 4.4.4, I'm going to need a ROM dump of your installation.

Well it looks like it's over to you M-M-C - How about a ROM dump for Randy!

Sorry guys, but this is getting a little confusing.

I REALLY don't mind that there is discussion of other ROM's, here. In fact, I strongly encourage it. The bottom line is to strive to find a way to improve our tablets, regardless of who the developer is. I have a lot of experience, but there are things that I don't know about...nor have the time to do myself. So my hat is off to the guys who have spent the time to do these other ROM's. Especially that 4.4.4 Omni ROM.

That being said, this thread is for discussion of the RileyROM 3.0...and I monitor it closely. With all of this talk about other ROM's, I don't know if it's something I need to support for my ROM...or someone else's ROM. Readers don't know if you are referring to Omni, Miui, or RileyROM if you don't specify in your post.

I would suggest starting a new thread for the Omni and the MIUI ROM's (There's already a MIUI ROM thread).

Yesterday, I played around with the Omni ROM on my laptop. I couldn't flash it through TWRP on my M7 Pro...so I tried converting the system folder into a system.img file to flash with the flash tool. I'm assuming that since it's being flashed by TWRP, that the parameters and file sizes must be the same. Since there is no kernel with the Omni ROM, I assume it's embedded in the boot.img provided...(there has to be, or it isn't a pure 4.4.4 ROM if it still uses the KK kernel...) but I haven't made it that far yet. I'm not promising anything, but I might be able to put a ROM kit together for this Omni ROM that can flash with the flash tool. But, I don't have an M9 Pro to test...so I don't know if I can do it, totally.
