    Understanding the various versions

    Hey All,

I recently made an **** purchase. Vega s89H.
It arrived yesterday. Defective to say the least.

I have to pay more than its worth to send it back for replacement.

So, Help me understand the Beelink s82/m8 versions?

Looks like I would be better off to just to buy a new Beelink.

The Vega was a 16g version.

Is the s82/m8 two different models? are there different version of those as there was with the Vega? Not really sure which of those three versions were the best anyway.

Any advise for a potential customer? any links to good deals at a trustworthy vendor?

After reading through this forum and seeing Oman respond, I think Beelink sounds like the way to go. They listen, and respond, making effort to provide a product that is usable and what the client wants.

Thanks to all for all info.

    Tom

A round one is a round one is a round one is a ....
Beelink is the brand of the factory which develop and produce it...

Versions are different at WiFi chip (2.4GHz and 2.4/5GHz), nand-size and kind of SoC
      - S802 without hardware acceleration decoding DD and DTS
      - S802B with hardware acceleration decoding DD but without DTS
      - S802H with hardware acceleration decoding DD and DTS
("hardware acceleration decoding" means at a special part of the SoC with implemented codecs... so if you only use XBMC or MX with mod lib, you don't need "hardware acceleration decoding" because they also do it by software)

Where do you buy the Vega s89H? Aliexpress?
What kind of problem do you have with it?

        Hey No_Spam....

Thanks for your time. I know that is something no-one has enough of these days.

I had made the purchase of the Vega on ****, from a seller out of Shenzhen, China.

It appears to have either a power cord or power jack problem. You have to have it sitting just right, with the power cable just right before it will power up. If you touch it or move it, it instantly goes off.

They are willing to replace it. but gonna be a long process and shipping back. Was just wondering if I should cut my loss and go with BeeLink. Was wondering if it was a better move in the first place.

So, From the details you posted, looks like the H version would be the comparable to the s89H from tronsmart.

Again, No_Spam, I do appreciate your time and knowledge.R

        Regards

Sounds like a seller from alibaba or aliexpress is using **** to me. Check out your return policy on the item you bought from the seller on **** (if they have one). If they dont or never respond back your are most likely going to have to cut your losses. I'd only buy from geekbuying.com. I would definitely get the s802-h version or wait for the s812, tegra k1, or rockchip rk3288 to start mass producing (if that ever happens).

Despite the name on the top be it beelink or tronsmart its all the same product.

Dud's come from the factory so you can get a bad one from anyone of the makers which sadly can happen with any electronics these days.

Your correct the H versions is the same across all the makers.

              M8 Amlogic Arrived Today.....

M8 Amlogic arrived today was really happy initially.....
Then the trouble began, the box freezes often. The only way to amend this is to pull power lead. more often than not it does not reboot immediately, I have to wait a few minutes to reconnect the lead before it starts again. when it does start up it sometimes stops during boot-up.
I thought it was being caused by droidmote but I have uninstalled this app and it is still happening.
It does seem to happen almost certainly a few minutes after XBMC is launched but can happen at any time really.
I have loaded new firmware k200-ota-20140722 which is just as unstable, it has XBMC Gotham 13.1 preloaded in it which I thought might resolve some issues but to no avail.
I am connected to a Samsung 720p tv dont know if that would affect performance, any help would be appreciated as I don't know if this is what all these boxes are like, or whether it is just a duff box.

try using one of the rom developers versions. Many have extra fixes and patches for 720p pre installed or have have a 720p version. Also, use stanes xbmc http://www.stane1983.com/downloads/ under the xbmc tab download the 4.4.2 version and not the 4.2.2 version

Would using a 720p tv really cause a problem???

Hmmm, I think you can fix it.

                    First try another 5V PSU.

For me maybe sounds like bad soldering. Are you able to solder?
Here you can find out how to open and remove the pcb

Also it can be, that the plug don't fit correctly into the socket because of the quill/nib inside the hole (sorry don't know the correct words in English)...

If your firmware isnt patched to allow 720 then yes it can cause a problem. I believe you have an m8 if I'm not mistaken by the firmware you listed. Regardless, find out what your box is and go to the corresponding thread and look at the stickies for available roms. Some roms are compatible with different devices, but start there and do some reading about the roms on the original post and see if its patched or has a patch for 720p.

Then find a site with html5 video. not youtube it actually works. I used www.videojs.com since it was the easiest. It crashes the app using <video> tags almost automatically. The app runs fine on all other devices that are rockchip and i have narrowed it down to the amplayer causing this issue. Any help getting this fixed or at least a solution to why its doing it would be helpful. Thanks

Plays perfect with stock player. so what is the need of the add on... there are players for the app but what app they make a few of them on that site? just trying to understand the need and what it does is all> If it plays in the browser then wouldnt it be a app issue is what i am getting at here is all.
