Ok Randy and what does it more than the rom pipo p1 came with.

I only want to give it a try if someone can explane the benefit of updating.

Till now no one could explane EXACTLY what it brings to change from the original rom to one of the updates available.
I'am not a real tweaker so lot of people as me are wondering why should a take the risk to flash another rom.

For me the configuration my pipo p1 came with. Working fine so what I'am overlooking ????

      Cheers

I don't get change logs with these firmware versions...but the original file name mentions WPS...whatever that means. I haven't had much time to test any other changes.

Also, something about "Direct Power Plug Charger"....I'm not sure about that, either.

I can remember you said the original rom was not that bad at all in the first place.

So what does it brings if I update ????????????

You have the pipo p1 now over a week so you was able to test it what brought you to change the software???

If sometimes the tablet hang up or reboot, there is still something to improve!

                      Maybe I'am a dummy in this. ( ok I'am)

Still do not understand why I should update and what exactly is the actual improvement,

If I read all the updates there is always someting buggy so there is an need for another upate to rectify the previous one .

Again what do you guys can do more with your tablet as I with my original configuration??????.

Give me one example what you can do with your updated pipo p1 what I can not?

My tablet does not hang does not reboot and all is working smootly.

No...you are no dummy. You have choices...and by what you are saying...you like to make educated choices.

Primarily, custom ROMs provide root. Beyond that? Depending on the developer there may be more added.

I haven't written this, but with these early rk3288 ROMs, I'm taking a conservative approach to making too many changes until we get more of a baseline of how the firmware performs.

Aside of rooting, I make little tweaks to allow a greater number of apps showing as compatible on Google Play Store.

If you are into running init.d scripts...that feature is added...and the symbolic links to busybox commands are added.

Also, if there are known issues, I've come up with workarounds or tweaks to improve certain features. But so far on the P1 I haven't needed it.

I too have had positive results with my P1...no lockups, no reboots...no lag....no problems whatsoever. This is the smoothest tablet I've owned...and I have a whole drawer full of tablets to compare.

If you are happy with the stock firmware...by all means...rock on with it. But if you need to run an app that requires root...like Titanium Backup...I would encourage you to flash a rooted custom ROM...whether it is mine or somebody else's.

The kicker is doing it the first time. Getting the USB drivers installed properly can be a pain in the butt.

                            Thanks Randy,

Ok this is clear to me some apps need a rooted tablet ok I can understand it.

And to get more apps showing as compatibel is for shure a good thing.

Please do not understand me wrong all over the place one can read about the good work you have done in the past and on the local forums overhere nothing than positive postings,I just wanted to know if for Pipo P1 it is word to update or not.

I will follow the topic from here and if it is realy a big change I will change.

                            Just as Giouncino advised too.

By the way this new tablets are in no way to compare with the old ones.

Maybe Pipo did not release this time with the problems of the past.

Maybe my seller already made some adjustments as there are zero Chinese things on my tablet and he already did change the settings for my country.

                            Cheers and a good weekend.

This is only partially true just because some issues of the p1 are common to older tablet as the not so loud volume of the speaker and the GPS that is quite slow to fix satellites. These are not so big issues but are still present on newer pipo tablet models. The problem that some users still have about reboots or freeze, makes me think that there is a lot of work to do (this is normal for a new tablet), and why not, an upgrade of android to kitkat 4.4.4 I think will be really appreiated.

Speakers your right could be with more volume.

Gps is working fine,so this is not an isue.
