    Battery Issues on P1

Hello everyone! Im obviously brand new to this forum but wanted to share Pipo P1 story...I havent had the tablet for more than a week and right out of the box it wont charge. It says its charging but its not. I picked up the tablet from Ainol-Novo and had no problems with them until now...I am pretty much getting the run around and not my $$ or a new tablet..so basically SUPER irritated. My problem is just like the guy on YouTube.

The supplied charger is a 9V 2.5A and it at least makes the tablet pretend its charging. After doing some reading I decided to buy a 5V 2.5A cable to use on my 5V 2.1A Powergen dual usb wall charger...nothing it wont even get the screen to light up.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm at my end here and ready to file a dispute with my bank and never touch Pipo again...I had very high hopes for this tablet and its my first tablet purchase ever so I'm sure you can feel my disappointment.

Ainol-Novo sent me a link for new firmware but I know this tablet was recently built...according to the QC sticker. Do I even try the firmware? Can this really make the tablet not charge? Also the website isn't in English and while I can translate a little I really dont know how to install the rar file since it is now dowloaded to my pc...do I just put it on the tablet and open it there and it should automatically start the install?

Sorry I'm just a little annoyed right now. K so I downloaded the rkbatch tool from pipo website but of course they don't have the right driver or my laptop just doesnt want to work right. All I get in the tool is a red code 10 line. That's after getting the pink box.

I really don't think it's the firmware...I emailed Pipo directly and am now just waiting for their response on this crappy battery issue. Very weird I've only found one other person with this problem

Unless you plan on flashing new rom I would wait a bit...I have a feeling more issues will surface. Also you cannot charge this via usb it seems only the 9v wall charger which is kinda hendering. I'm one of two so far that I can find complaints on battery not charging. Ainol-Novo claims they test every tablet and maybe they did hut guessing by the 50% charge on arrival they don't test charging them to 100%.

Be very careful with generic chargers. The charging circuits are very sensitive...and any fluctuation from the specs will render your battery permanently unchargable. I've done it...this is first hand knowledge. The only fix is to send it back.

See and that's a bummer because first charger I used was the Pipo one that came in the box. Charged it overnight before turning it on and nothing...was sittin at 53%. Haven't even pulled the plastic film off this thing.

It could be a bad charger. Or a bad battery.

Try this....with the tablet on, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds...or longer to do a hard shutdown. Put it on the charger and see if it charges higher.

Nope won't budge still at 17%. Would it be firmware? Ainol-Novo responded wanting pics and they again said firmware...their literally going round and round with me.

Yes...it is possible that its just the calibration of the battery stats. Sometimes there is a selection in stock recovery that clears the battery stats....but its not a sure solution. But worth a try.

Dang...I can give it another shot but when I try to follow Pipos directions it doesn't work. It does fine till I try and update the driver and I'm guessing because they don't have the right driver for the RK3288. If that's possible..

                    I really appreciate the help.

This is the Pipo link I'm following. I download the tool and get all the way to the driver install...that's where things go downhill. Thought I bricked it first attempt haha.

                      Stock charger is 9V?
If yes, it will be impossible to charge via USB and it is a proof that P1 uses exactly the same battery of M6pro.
Are you trying to update firmare with which windows version PC? Remember that Pipo driver doesn't work on Windows 8.1.

You can calibrate battery even with battery calibration app. you need to be root (use root genius from the PC).

Hi! Yes definitely 9v 2.5a stock charger and dc port on tablet says 9v as well. I have tried two times to update firmware and 2nd time got the driver to work. When I go into device manage and renew driver software it tells me I have the best driver. Im on windows 7 64x but keep receiving a TEST DEVICE FAIL message when I click upgrade on the RKBATCH tool. Says Layer 1-1-1 Test Device Start then Layer 1-1-1 Test Device Fail and everything goes to red. I would rather not root yet because this thing is literally brand new...I would rather try and sent it back or dispute through my bank first. I really just want the damn thing to work lol!!

This seems to me a problem of the USB cable between micro USB plastic "cover" and tablet usb port.
I found the same on other pipos, I slighly polish the plastic cover of the cable to improve insertion of micro USB cable into the tablet.

I'm off to bed will give this a shot tomorrow. Next step will be contacting my bank no brand new tablet should be this much trouble and no company should try and make it seem like screwed up batteries and firmware are ok. Nobody is going to buy a tablet that needs days of trouble shooting to actually use. Pipo failed on my specific tablet.

                            Frustrated as hell.

Really sorry to hear about your charging issues with Pipo P1. I really hope that it will be solved in some way.

I received my Pipo P1 today and it seems to be charging fine for me.

My girlfriend is currently testing it. She looks happy. But one complain from her about running Youtube clips in the Internet browser, where screensaver pauses it. Screensaver never goes on when she runs the same on iPad, she says. ....not sure if that is true or not. It's when using the browser, not in the Youtube app (She has not installed that yet.).

Me running Antutu and it crashed two times. Guess I need to be rooted, right?
I managed to root it with Root Genius and after that Antutu runs fine and scores 41140. I'm very pleased with that.

This is my third try with Android tabs and my previous tablets were a bit unsuccessful. So, I have mostly been focused on Android TV sticks/boxes and phone devices the past 2 - 3 years ...waiting for tablets to be a bit better. I think they are really good now and a lot of interesting and good prices.

So, whats next? Should I install the latest firmware from Pipo? http://pan.baidu.com/s/1fEweq
Or, should I wait for a firmware to be released by you guys?

To all developers in this thread ...thanks for all your hard work nice sharing you give us ...on tweaking advice....and help we (poor end users) get from you here and on Freaktab!

                                Sharing is caring!
